Sending midi out based on Live parameter changes

Can someone tell me if this idea is even possible before I go too far into figuring out how to do it? I have a Behringer CMD LC-1 controller and for reasons that I sort of understand, I can't get the button LEDs to get feedback from Live when I have them MIDI mapped. Basically what I want to do, for...

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013

That tip on Sonic Academy is a good one. I remember using that method when I was first trying to get my head around compression as well. It's a great starting point, though as with most things, don't be afraid to break the rules. The great thing about that trick is that by overdoing the settings to ...

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013

I'm not at the level yet to understand how different compressors affect different sounds with their own individual characteristic, but am really interested to find out. Could you explain how a buss compressor works differently to a master compressor? I can't really address the specific qualities of...

Re: PSP MasterComp $49 - only until April 2nd 2013

Thanks for posting this though. I jumped at it, and I have to say, while both MasterComp and the Glue Compressor are buss compressors, they get very different results. I've been using Cytomic's Glue VST for ages and love it, but MasterComp blows it out of the water for some things. Horses for course...

Re: Shouldn't there be a section devoted to The Bridge?

Much as I'm interested in Bridge, I can't really justify the plunge if it doesn't allow you to run serato audio through ableton effects. Most of the reason I stick with Ableton for djing is my custom effects racks.

ps How's it going, Rob? :)

Re: Record:Mix:Master, you separate or you do all together?

I've kind of always mixed as I go. Like someone else said, every time I've ever gone back and pulled faders to zero and started again, it hasn't been as good as the rough mix I had. Lately, and this seems to be a controversial subject, I've started mixing into a limiter about halfway through the wri...

I'm just gonna throw that out there because it's my friend's gig.
Ha! Who's your friend? I just played at Terenga last week. Mochipet tonight.

I love those guys.

Re: NI Massive 1.1.4 - Now available.

OMG this is really the only improvement I wanted from Massive. The only other thing they could do is give it an audio input so I could use the filters and effect section on other sources. FUCK YEAH!!!

Re: WWDC - Badass notebooks today...

What use is a frickin' SD slot?... There must be some new marketing genius over at Apple... huge wtf. a usb sd reader is what, five bucks? this replaced an express card slot on a "pro" machine? maybe they've got some supergenius sd interface thingamabob planned that hasn't been revealed y...

Re: WWDC - Badass notebooks today...

I agree, and one must also accept that laptop musicians are not apple's primary demographic for these machines, even though virtually every performer I see uses one. It all makes sense if apple is coming from a more general computing, cost cutting approach; it's just inconvenient for me and the way ...

Re: WWDC - Badass notebooks today...

You're being facetious, but I would frankly be psyched if there was a 232 port on my laptop. It would make certain things I have to do so much easier. Yeah, I understand why they lost the expresscard, but it's just annoying. You see, I've always liked my echo indigo pcmia interface for djing; it wor...

Re: Clipping when looping

I've had the same problems with Massive. Do the midi notes in your clip go all the way to or past the loop bracket? Try ending the last note a little earlier; it has worked for me in the past. It seems like the synth isn't getting the note off if it is right at the end of the loop, and just continue...

If I see one more music video with a topless skinny twenty-something either painting his body or wearing beads and feathers and crap like that, or with a mask on, or a fat line of make-up over his eyes.... Or if I see another music video set in a forest, with fire, oil, smoke, pseudo religion, daft...

It's going to be more the warping than the fact that it was an mp3. Any timestretching is going to create some artifacts. It's the nature of the process. Try the different warp modes and see which sounds best. If you're just chopping and rearranging a track at it's native tempo, try and turn warping...
