Here's an idea... There's a clean kick hit at the start of the song. Sample that. Now you have their exact kick.

It will set you back a tiny bit, but a simple midi controller with some knobs would help you greatly with this. Thats one of the reasons i bring my APC40 to the studio when making/mixing tracks. The Novation Nocturn is pretty cheep and will allow you to much more easily make curves in your automati...

I think you'd just be better off practicing whatever you keep screwing up. Always works for me. Why would I practice something I'm just recording in to program the synth line, when I can just edit it to make it right? Dude... Ace of Base *was* my favorite band when i was 12.. for a couple years... I still respect their stuff. It was very musical and original. Great melodies. Far ahead of their time. I'm not a very good keyboard player and a lot of the time I hit accidental notes when recording while playing the next chord...
