If you don't need your Mac Pro right this second, wait until Sept. when 10.6 comes out and by then the new machines should start trickling in to the refurb section.All the new graphics feature (Open CL etc) will probably work on newer models only, knowing Apple

Hi Dom, Alright truce. I understand that you personally are working very hard on this, and am appreciative. Considering I bought, installed and authorised Ableton Live 8 ages ago why is it still trying to be authorised on my machine ? That is to say, it seems to go through the authorisation process...

Don't forget with Bootcamp, you can have both worlds at full native power.Applecare is a definite before the first years up as others have said.

Either XP Home/Pro just be sure to have Service pack 2 on it.I just scored a 15.4" 2.4 myself and XP is damn fast on this machine.
