Hi Amaury.

I understand what you're saying, but here's my problem:

With Bidule, I have chains of effects for every song on a number of audio tracks. Let's say when all of Song 1's effects are activated my machine's running at 70% CPU, while when all of Song 2's effects are activated my machine's ...

Thanks guys.

Yeah Khazul, I'm finding Live's CPU to be pretty erratic too. I've owned Live since version 2 and it's always been pretty good, but for some reason since version 5 (and now particularly with 6) the CPU consumption's a little scary, all over the place.

Hey friend_kami. Not sure exactly ...

Chain Selector CPU problem

Hey there. Hope someone can assist ...

I'm using the Chain Selector to switch between some pretty CPU heavy effect chains in racks via clip envelopes. However, there seems to be a kind of 'effect crossfade' when doing this, where both chains are enabled for a moment, before the first deactivates ...

Cheers, Nolus. I've been using that, but unless you know differently (I'd love to be proven wrong!), I'm pretty sure that only works for plugins inserted on MIDI tracks. I have some VST audio plugs that respond to program changes, and it would be great to dump them on an audio track and control them ...

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I knew I could do it in the way you describe, sweetjesus - I was just hoping to do it the other way. It seems a little silly if I want to switch states in one plugin lots of times in a set that I have to have to have an instant for each state. I know plugins don't take up a whole ...

Changing presets via MIDI

Hi.

I asked a similar question a little while back but got no responses, so thought I'd simplify my question and give it another shot.

Does anyone know if there's a way to change device presets via MIDI? Maybe I'm missing something but it seems I can only change them with a mouse, and I'm trying ...

Disappearing BCF2000 Editor

Hey!

Not sure if anyone can help with this, but awhile ago I came across a free editor online for the Behringer BCF2000 which could be used as an alternative to Behringer's own BCEdit. I can't use BCEdit on my machine but this other one works well.

Unfortunately, I recently reformatted my computer ...

Thanks, but telling me my card is junk doesn't really help me.

As I said before, I use it with a PC and haven't had any problems with it in normal operation yet. I also don't run it bus-powered so no hotswapping doesn't bother me.

Thanks, but I'm not using two machines - just one computer with Ableton and Cubase both open. Having both these programs accessing the card is the problem.

For day-to-day single-client production stuff it's worked fine for me so far (on a PC).

Ableton + Cubase + FW 410

I have recently upgraded from an M-Audio Quattro to the FireWire 410, primarily for extra stability when I perform my music live.

When I play live I have Ableton Live 4 and Cubase SX 3 synced up via MIDI Clock on the same computer (SX is the Master). This has never been a problem for the Quattro ...

Is this possible with ReWire?

Hi.

I've been trying to find out a way to successfully sync up Cubase SX3 with Live so that I can have pretty good functionality with both programs. I've tried MIDI Clock but it's unreliable. The best way would be to sync using ReWire but I've found that doing so takes everything I want out of Live ...

Thanks, but I don't want to use ReWire. I've found that it pretty much takes everything I want to use out of Ableton. I want to record parts live and play them back, effect them, among other things ... ReWire just leaves me stuck with Cubase's I/O, which is no good for live performance.

Importing Cubase SX Tempo Track into Live

Hi.

I've recently finished some recordings in Cubase SX3 in which I used Cubase's tempo track a lot to modulate the tempo of the songs.

I'm now trying to prepare a live performance of these songs in Ableton and have realised I may be screwed! :(

The tempo changes are 'embedded' into most of the ...

I can't try your suggestion with my current setup, but it would seem that because it's still a MIDI Clock signal the syncing problems would remain (especially considering I'd probably have to route the signal through something like MIDI Yoke anyway). It seems as if other people have used MIDI Yoke ...
