i love my UL, but lately i've found myself needing more inputs than it offers. might be time for an upgrade. I found myself in the same position. I ended up getting a second UL and a Gator 2U rack bag. I mounted the ULs side by side daisychained and use the second rack space for recording snakes an...

Screencap of Zebra in Bidule AU and a few random questions
I like the idea of dropping Bidule AU on a track and opening Zebra nested within that--see screencap. Works better for me than opening Zebra within Live, Bidule, or Logic as primary host. A forum search shows a few prior threads on this but I thought it worth repeating and had a few comments/questio...

I am using two midi tracks. One is called MRL and the other is MRR. On one track the scale function filters out some of the notes as detailed in my prior post and the autopan/tremolo causes the notes to play as 16th notes on the beats. On the second track the scale function filters out the opposite ...

Lowry marimba repeat
I was reminded of this after reading the recent fascinating post about using the three adjacent black keys with arpeggiation for trance. But this is for real... It is pretty simple to set up a patch that emulates the Lowry organ marimba repeat setting used by Townshend on Baba O. First, sample one o...

Hey, Map a keyboard key to ozone bypass and track activate, then repeat as needed. This lets you toggle thru them easily. I have a set for 12 track recording where I have the record enables for each track mapped to a single key. I also have a key mapped to toggle all effects on or off (including Ozo...

...For synth and piano, to give the illusion I am looping what I play, I simply play the part once live once, and then have the korg's sequencer play a pre-programmed part that is the same when I'm ready to switch instruments..... It is kind of like lip sync-ing but with loops. That being sa...

Re: Rythmic gate?
There was a nice discussion of sidechain gating in E. Musician Jan 2007.patrickkidd wrote:Does anyone have a decent way to trigger a gate of some kind with a programmed sequence? This would chop the sound at intervals determined by the sequence...
cheers
Shure wish Ableton's gate could sidech... oh never mind.

Ok, stupid question time. I've seen sequencers, I think I kinda know what they do etc. Could someone give like a couple sentence background as to maybe the history, why they exist, what they do, why 16 steps, etc. Thanks cause I'm too lazy to wiki this (and I think I'll get a better answer here). :...

mdifazio, doesn't the EWI have a spare midi button somewhere? You could assign a button to turn the scale device on/off whenever you wanted to go chromatic for a while ? There are up to 88 assignable spares. I would think it would be all or none, like a patch change as you suggest. There is another...

There are passing tones in the melody, so I couldn't play the melody as written with these control clips in place. Similarly, you can't anticipate the next bar without changing the boundaries of the clips. But I guess it's not really about being able to play freely! I suppose the problem is that th...

By the way, I just got done with Major and melodic minor modes in C. I'm going to get together M/m pentatonics, M/m blues, harmonic minor.... I guess also whole tone, diminished, and auxiliary diminished I think that would about cover it for useful jazz scales, unless anybody has more suggestions. ...
