Re: Noises from Dub Machines Magnetic (SOLVED:Feature, not bug)

what a nice response from Dub Machines! Please don t get rid of the noise, it s nice to mess with, it s part of the niceness of using the Original and - if you don t like it you can turn it down. As i do Dub Music (more on the Dub-Reggae side), i enjoy a bit of nice "dirt" for my tracks. S...

Does not mean it will work for you 8O

Re: Push or not ?

I think having Push and an APC is nice, but you could easily let the APC go for Push.

Re: Watched some Push demo videos on youtube, and eh.

Push is really about building parts of a track and playing instruments,
APC 40 is about performing existing Music.

Could have to do with this.

Personally, i love my Push, it s the first Midi controller which made me make Music instead of endless configuring.

Just my personal experience.

Re: Using existing tunes as an arrangement template?

My 2 cents: DO IT!!! Analyse some of your favorite Tunes, use them as a template and it will be fun, you will finish some tunes and will help you to understand arrangement. It s a GREAT way to get going. Changing something if you want to - easy Tarekiths Method is also great and you should try it. E...

Re: Getting Ableton heard in practice space?

all said above is spot on. I would get two active PA Speakers (like the Mackie, lots of alternatives). If you practice stereo is often not that important, so you can bring only one speaker. For gigs, stereo has pro and cons, but you can bring both and you have a setup which is also great for DJing a...

Re: Best workflow for editing audio sample externally

you save the sample in the original location and overwrite the old version (=destructive editing) which means just hit "save" and not "save as" Be careful, don t do it with samples which you use in other projects. A good strategy is to save your live set as self containing before...

Re: Push owners: has Push replaced the keyboard?

Yes it has, which could have to do with Fact that i suck at playing Keys.

but since i own it, i have not touched my Keyboard Controller.

For me, Push is great fun and the best Controller i have owned so far - if i were good at Keys i probably would not bother.

Re: Does musical theory is needed in electronic music ?

Most people misunderstand what music theory actually is. Academics talk about "standard musical practice"...what did Bach do, what did Mozart do, etc. and have broken that down into formulas for "correct" melody, harmony and rhythm. Still, there are plenty of examples of compose...

Re: Does musical theory is needed in electronic music ?

Back to Topic:

i think a little bit musical theory is not per se needed but helps a lot:

-if you are stuck with a track
-if you want to produce a different style of Music
-to make your Tracks less boring/more interesting
-to be faster producing
-to finish tracks instead of Loops
