Re: What is the resolution of Live’s LFO rate knob?
Ok I automated the retrigger on and off for a pair of LFOs at the start of a clip and there is a clear difference between 0.008 and 0.013 even though both display 0.01 on the knob. Cool! Still would be nice to know the resolution though. 3 decimal places? 4? And the retrigger is a little flakey? Som...

What is the resolution of Live’s LFO rate knob?
In the GUI it’s rounded to two decimal places. So for instance if I type “0.008” the knob says “0.01” but is the LFO actually running at 0.01 Hz or at what I typed 0.008 Hz? In other words, is the actual LFO rate rounded off or just the display? I can’t find anything in the manual or online about th...

Re: Does a reliable audio interface really exist?
Never had any problems with my Apogee Duet original version nor my RME Fireface 800.

Legato long samples in Sampler with selection macro?
So I know how to do this with clips in session view, but I wanted to build it into a rack: I have a bunch of long, looping samples of background atmospheres loaded into a Sampler. The samples are various lengths and need to loop freely and continuously. I have the samples evenly distributed over the...

32 vs 64 bit MBP vs MacPro question
For years I've only had a 2008 MacBookPro 17inch for production. I've stayed at Snow Leopard and 32 bit Ableton because with the ram maxed out at 4 GB I saw no advantage in upgrading. Well yesterday I rescued two MacPro towers from a dumpster, and one of them works! (The other one made a very loud f...

Re: Epic Drum Racks Vol. 1 (free drum machine library/drum rack)
mholloway - It's just a midi transpose, you don't have to use it but it makes it easier. Make a new midi clip, scroll all the way down to the first 16 notes and write your pattern. Then use the one knob to select between the 4 main sections (Roland, Classic Drum Machines, Machinedrum, Circuit Bent)....

Re: Nice comfortable headphone for listening
I have the Koss PortaPros, Grado 80s, and Sennheiser HD-600s, and I think they are all the best cans by far in their respective price ranges. The PortaPros sound like $100 for less than half that. Koss will repair them for life for $9 (I've done this twice now). They are not flat enough for mixing b...

Re: K System calibration with Apogee Duet?
Also I just noticed the the K-14 calibrated volume is at the line out level of "-14" in Maestro (on my speakers which are set at "-5dB input sensitivity"), so that's pretty cool!

Re: K System calibration with Apogee Duet?
Duhh... The Duet installs a software bit called Maestro. I hadn't messed with it because you don't need it to run the Duet but if you launch it you can dial in a level setting and save it. There's a check box to revert to that save every time you launch Maestro, and you can also load saved level set...

Re: K System calibration with Apogee Duet?
Thanks for the reply, Khazul. What about the TC Electronics Level Pilot? The Mackie and PreSonus boxes are all too much for me - both in features and especially price. It's just me, the softsynths, and one set of speakers so I don't need talkbacks and mic pres and multiple ins and outs, that's why I...

K System calibration with Apogee Duet?
I'm slowly rebuilding my small bedroom studio after losing everything goddam thing I owned in a flood. So I just got monitors - Event ASP8s - and I want to calibrate my setup for the K System. I have read Mr. Katz book and all the stuff I could find online, downloaded test tones, bought the Radio Sh...

Well damn. Stupid Mopads. Also these stands have rubber nubbin feet, not spikes. I should get spikes? Where do you get spikes?

Re: which of these 3 monitor stands + mopads?
I just bought the Raxess stands for my Event ASP8's. If the 20/20's are as huge as these 8's are you will want to get the shorter 36 inch stands because you want the tweeters at your ear height. DIY is the def the budget way to go - plenty of plans on the net. Having no tools or skills I went with t...
