Re: Is there a way to place warp markers by tapping? Help!
Thank you all for the help. I've got a few ideas to try and some great feedback to push me through the production work, plus I now know that I'm not suffering from simple naiveté of my Live skills, which is comforting. I'm most of the way finished now regardless. I'm going to bite the bullet and get...

Re: Is there a way to place warp markers by tapping? Help!
Double-clicking the transient marker or any spot on the transients grid creates a warp marker. Agreed, but that isn't where my difficulty lies. I'm working with acoustic folk music which varies in tempo considerably and intentionally, plus has no drums or a beat. Think "Rocky Mountain High&quo...

Is there a way to place warp markers by tapping? Help!
I've been warping a lot of rhythmically variable and beat-less folk music lately (long story) and it isn't going as smoothly as I'd like. I have no problem getting the general tempo close enough; it's getting the warp markers added and set that is very time consuming and tedious. Is there a way to l...

Re: How to get selected audio device to stick?
Negative on the Motu. Same behavior exist on an M-Audio Fast Track, NI Audio 2 and my Traktor S2. Doesn't matter. Always defaults to no device. It's on; it"s connected; It show up in the drop down box, it just doesn't save that preference. Very silly for such a simple thing (imho)

How to get selected audio device to stick?
Every time I start Live 9 it asks me to go to preferences and pick an audio device. As I always use the same one (and it doesn't matter which that is) the preferences erase upon exiting Live. Is there a secret "SavePreferences" button somewhere that I'm missing? Defaulting to no output dev...

Ableton Live on my iPad
Seriously. Check this out. I have this working pretty well and it is nice to be able to sit on the living room couch tweaking synth sounds.

Re: To Maschine Or Not To Maschine
I picked up a Maschine yesterday and while it is still early I think I have most of it figured out. I don't think it does much that my APC40 + MPD18 can't do ( other than automating any parameter at any time on the fly with knobs, which is huge imho) but, that being said, having everything right the...

Re: 13" or 15" MBP
I think the 15" has a much, much better video card (two in fact) and a quad core I7 cpu, so they're not really in the same class. Go for the 15", I love mine to death.

Re: ABLETON+MPD=MIDI HELLLL. please help
Yeah man, use it as a midi controller. I use and absolutely love my mpd18 and it causes me no grief whatsoever. Plug-n-play. Drum racks map to it perfectly, other things not so much, but with drum racks it doesn't matter a whole lot.

Re: Is all of the APC 40 hate justified or just gear-head rants?
Go for it man, you won't be sorry. Put it right in front of you and make sure you get in the habit of using it instead of your mouse where possible. Once you get used to it, it is your go-to instantly for much of what is going on. Peeps saying it only launches clips forget about the knobs, fader, tr...

Re: Maschine vs apc40+mpd18
Okay, cool feedback. Thanks guys. Can I use something like Operator to develop tunes using Maschine? Does it integrate in a way that I can use the cool features with my Ableton Suite synths that I am so familiar with? I haven't seen an example of it sequencing a native Abelton synth yet. The example...

Maschine vs apc40+mpd18
I have a Maschine question I'd like answered. I've watched a whole bunch of YouTube videos, including 20+ tutorial series, and I think I basically get how the thing works. It looks like an awesome piece of kit for sitting and jamming out a groove or even a complete song. That being said, the methods...

Re: Commercial sample packs vs taking beats from vinyl and MP3's
Do you mean that you're sampling and then looping a beat or using samples of a kick or snare to build your own beat? I use samples in my drum racks constantly but never use a canned beat. I have way too much fun programming my own beats and if I heard one that someone else wrote that I really liked ...

Pick apart my new tunes please
I could seriously use some criticism (constructive or otherwise) on how to move this latest work in progress along. I tend to fiddle with little things and eventually end up hating the whole piece that I'm working on and then bag it. This latest thing that I'm working on is a perfect example where i...

Re: Strange lines in sound waves on Soundcloud - phasing issue?
It is aliased. If you have a sine wave that is running at one frequency and it's being sampled at another you'll get that aliasing pattern. The actual audio is fine the problem is the picture of it. It is similar to a visual moray pattern.
