Re: New MBP's and the death of desktops for us studio nerds?

This is a very interesting issue to me. I have actually found in the past that I get BETTER performance when I turn OFF the multicore support in Live. That is, I'll have a specific session open and I'll be using say 53% of processing power with Multiprocessor support on. I turn off Multiprocessor su...

Re: a hopefully simple question about buffer shuffler

I am fairly sure that there is no (immediate and simple) way to enable the various "buttons" in the Live.Grid object (which is the main portion of the Buffer Shuffler effect) to be available for MIDI control. ALMOST all objects in Max4Live have a Device Parameter (called "enable, if I...

Re: Question about M4L and Pluggo devices

I wouldn't stop there, Gregory: I'd mention also that M4L includes some really interesting new plugins which were not included with Pluggo such as: Buffer Shuffler,Auto Ring Mod, Cut Killer,Spectral Delay and Spectral Harm are a few off the top of my head. Some of these are included as "buildin...

Re: routing channels

Though you COULD create an effect that you place on a Return channel, and have your pull down menu simply control which audio channel is being sent to the Aux Send that is feeding this Return channel. If you effect needs to function like an Insert, then you would also want to make that pull-down men...

Re: Maxforlive.com request.

Wouldn't it be smarter to post stuff about the maxforlive.com site ON the Max for Live site itself? Seconding this: You all DO understand that Maxforlive.com has NOTHING to do with the Ableton or Cycling 74 sites, right? That is, Maxforlive.com is not run by Cycling or Ableton. I'd suggest contacti...

Re: CPU load of M4L & Buffer Shuffler

M4L devices are not very CPU efficient compared to native, VST or AU effects but CPU efficiency is not the only consideration when using a M4L effect. The Loop Shifter effect for instance is something that could only be achieved with M4L so in my mind is worth a few extra CPUs. There's a great vide...

Re: CPU load of M4L & Buffer Shuffler

I know this isn't a straightforward question to answer, but how much additional CPU load are you seeing with M4L running? And with Buffer Shuffler in particular, how much extra CPU resource does an instance of it demand? I'm on a Vaio laptop, 2Ghz Core2Duo and 2GB RAM... but of course your system w...

I'm "that friend" MZ makes mention of below: I was able to get Lemur to Mac connection going very quickly. For some reason the Mac to Lemur communication wasn't working until...well....I'm not entirely sure WHAT made it work. If you open up the device in Max, and check the Max window, do y...

I'd try using the External Effect device - that allows multiple physical outputs from a stereo input.

Re: Pluggo??? What's the deal??

Hi vanceg, It seems that, in some cases, if you choose to not install the Max for Live Pack, you're never asked again if you'd like to install it. I'd recommend creating a new Library from within the Library tab of Live's Preferences window. This should force a reinstallation of the Library, includ...

Re: The new devices in Beta 9 really show off the power of M4L

the maxforlive pack on my system is 8.4 . updated 4 november. maybe had an installer that didn't include this. will download again. somehow I was using max install b8 . everything is cool now. I was, indeed, using the b9 install. But, reinstalling M4L did, indeed, fix the problem: I am now able to ...

Me too! I suspect some package install script didn't run properly for you and I (and likely some other folks too....)

Re: Pluggo??? What's the deal??

Interesting: I do NOT see and of the pluggo plugins available under Max Effects (or anywhere else, it appears). Has anyone else (not) seen this? This may be another manifestation of something that happened to me previously in which the default M4L devices were not installed. I'll try re-downloading ...
