It sounds like your CPU is overloading. Check the 'D' thingy on the top right corner. If it flashes around the time you launch a scene, it's overloading.

This is true. Having said that, some of us need to eat.

You generally don't have to worry about clipping within a track as long as the track's overall output doesn't go red. If the last effect in the chain is causing it to clip, you can either insert a limiter after it or bring down the track volume.

You can get this effect using a ping pong delay or a simple delay in Ableton. When you right click the yellow title bar on the device, you'll get a menu with 3 options. For me, it is set to "fade" by default. If you check the "repitch" option, you can automate the delay time to g...

I haven't used an i7 before, but from what I've heard (ironically, from the salesman at the apple store), it doesn't really boost performance by that much. Probably not worth the extra cash, which is why I bought the i5. But maybe you should wait for a reply from an i7 user. :| EDIT: I just saw that...

Lol.. scratch that, that's what happens in Reason, not Ableton.

Click the "D" button on the bottom right corner of Live's interface (near the mixer, crossfade, I/O buttons). This will open up the track delays.

Yep. That is cool. I've come across some really strange sounds with FM8's LFO.

BTW.. You could try using a frequency shifter inserted after FM8. I don't really use it for vibrato but it might work.
