Re: Ableton 10 slow to load instruments, drums, rack etc...

I just noticed this problem today. Instruments take ~10s to load but this wasn't an issue before. It's making me wonder if it's related to the most recent update to my current build number. I haven't really touched Live in the past couple of weeks, but the difference was immediately noticeable. Is ...

Re: Ableton 10 slow to load instruments, drums, rack etc...

Yeah, but this is indeed very useful information you're adding to this now. There are execution times that under specific circumstances can be viewed as normal and not under others. I see you have a HDD. The information in my last post was all covered when I initially chimed in on page 1 of this th...

Re: Ableton 10 slow to load instruments, drums, rack etc...

I was obviously directing my comment to new reporters since . For a guy who puts a premium on accurate reporting, you sure are hanging a lot of weight on "you guys". :D Seriously though, I agree it's beneficial for commenters to be as specific as possible, and submit data to Ableton where applicabl...

Re: Ableton 10 slow to load instruments, drums, rack etc...

If you guys could perhaps define "slow" in actual measured time units, then perhaps there could be some help for you? And describe what you have installed, when it's slow and whether or not you've done the usual checks. I did some tests previously, posted here, but this was well within the tolerabl...

Re: Ableton 10 slow to load instruments, drums, rack etc...

I’ve noticed everything is slow, including adding tracks, changing routings, and slicing. Windows 10 x64 6 core Intel 16 GB RAM 1 TB SSD Latest Live beta RME UFX audio interface I’m a software engineer, and I know how to keep my machine clean and running well. Same here on all counts. I've actually...

Re: MS Surface Pro Tablet Support?

Hey this thread is quite old, but I've had a Surface Pro for a few months now. In that time I've pretty much concluded that Live 9 is not suited to touchscreen use - key UI elements are simply too small, and in some cases - e.g. fader controls - unnecessarily so. Moreover I don't see any evidence th...

Re: Windows 8 Touchscreens

I hadn't seen any reviews of these with a cpu-hogging program other than Photoshop. Very into the idea of carrying around something lighter if I can still do somewhat complex stuff in Ableton and Bidule. Yes, it's very frustrating just trying to find benchmarks against the Surface Pro. The best you...

Re: Windows 8 Touchscreens

Did you try the fix for Wacom tablets, which have the same problem? https://www.ableton.com/answers/how-can-i-use-a-wacom-tablet-with-live Fixed! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Now all I have to figure out is how to deal with the sheer tiny-ness of everything. Zooming helps, but it's not quite ...

Re: Windows 8 Touchscreens

Your bank of faders is exactly this controller use that I wrote about. UIs designed for touch cannot have as many UI controls as mouse based UIs, because touch requires BIGGER buttons, faders, knobs etc. See how Windows8 UI is different from Windows7? Instead of small icons you have these huge tile...

Re: Windows 8 Touchscreens

I've tested it on a laptop with touchscreen, and more recently (last night in fact) on a Surface Pro running Windows 8. I knew the screen would be too small for actual mixing/production, but I was very excited about the idea of having even a few tracks and faders up to mix and pan VSTs etc for pract...

Re: alesis airfx

Tons of fun for the money. I wish I'd never sold mine, what was I thinking? It's not very programmable, and it's relatively imprecise in execution, but you're sure to find a preset or two that make you grin. I had one in the effects loop of my guitar amp for a while and it was fun for the occasional...

Re: New Macbook Air - A good gigging machine?

The 13" Air is a beautiful machine. (I like the 11" but 1.4GHz is a little pokey; actually so is 1.86GHz, but it's an improvement anyway.) The main dealbreaker (aside from the price at the much-needed 256GB) for me is the lack of Firewire. Surprised no one on an Ableton forum has mentioned that yet....

Re: FBV Shortboard mkII expression pedal with Live 8

A long shot, but you might also try taking the hub out of the equation temporarily; see if that has any impact. If you bought the board locally, you could try swapping it out for another one, just to see if it's a defective piece of hardware. Wouldn't hurt to post a screen cap of that Line 6 config ...

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

Hmm. The issue with the expression pedal sounds like it might be related to a relative vs. absolute setting on the way that effect's knob. Does the problem persist if you assign it to another parameter, e.g. master volume or crossfade? Also pay close attention to the way the pedal is programmed in t...
