Re: very odd prob with saving presets.

Been experiencing this for years. It's ridiculous this still happens in Live 9. I personally find it happens 50% of the time, if not more... Especially prominent when saving over presets

Re: Should I replace my EQ8s with a linear phase EQ?

As mentioned above, Minimum Phase and Linear Phase both have different pluses and minuses. EQs are a lot more complicated than you'd first imagine, and creating one in software is a lot more complex than you'd probably imagine... Either way I'd say lean toward Pro-Q or something comparable. http://w...

Re: Maximiser

The "Limiter" plugin is a maximizer.

Just set it to a release of 1 ms or less and increase the lookahead to 10 sec and you have something that sounds very close to the L2. It's a tiny bit softer, but overall still very close.

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

My aversion to what Bitwig has done is more affected by my personal affection towards Ableton and how deeply they affected the way I approach music than my politics, most likely. What Bitwig have done is conceptually legitimate in "free market" sense (not that I believe truly "free&q...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

Fair enough... and again, it certainly could go vaporware (but I personally don't think it will, on that time table that puts them a few million dollars into development... ) I would imagine the first year for them was just speccing the app and then raising money from various investors before buildi...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

2 years to build a daw from the ground up with 5 developers. VS: 3+ years to release a very small handful of new features (many of which are just UI enhancements. New effects of which were developed by 3rd party companies.) Snail's pace you say? Yeah... Yeah, it could go vapoware... But assum...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

Exactly my reasoning for suggesting this ;) It's not the same, and if for any reason you save it as a project (by accident or whatever) you run the risk of getting orphaned files... plus it's just a downright handy feature, and one I bet most Live users would start to actually use regularly. Not onl...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

I'm skeptical. ... I have seen quite a few responses from Abelton employees that sound as if the vision is hitting a wall. Responses like "Why would you want to do that?" "How would that work in practical use?" "Have you tried this M4L device?" (which dosent apply to r...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

It's not rocket science, it's capitalism. The rocket scientists moved into finance after the cold war ended. Not sayin it was a particularly successful transition or owt. In the modern world, marketing is more important than the actual product. And the customer is not important whatsoever. Generall...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta 'soon'...

Thinking about my analogy earlier, maybe it could be the other way around Maybe the Bitwig guys who left Ableton are the ones with the real original idea, and it's their baby and a genuine expression of their desires, the way Live used to be for them. Maybe 9 will become the app that lost vision, b...
