Re: Performing Live
what do you mean run out of space? lack of scenes?(insert scenes) lack of tracks (insert audio or midi tracks) You know, that is so obvious I just didn't think about it. I was trying to drag in .als files to an already full Session screen, and there just wasn't room. I could import/drag in maybe 3 ...

Re: Performing Live
Thank you all for your feedback, I appreciate it. I've messed around with importing a few songs into one large set. I really like that concept, but how do you keep adding more als files into the Session View screen? In other words, it seems that once I've imported a few songs (each with varying amou...

Performing Live
Got a question for the community here. First of all, how many of you perform original material live with Ableton that you've composed with Ableton? Second, just how do you perform those original tunes live? My live performances are of all original material that I've composed with Ableton. As of righ...

Re: DJ Styles
Here's another original track. This one is way simpler - I write a lot of ambient/downtempo songs, too. http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd363/SirEsquire/Screenshot2011-12-07at24006PM.png So, these types of songs would be much easier for me to render according to your live setup. You can listen t...

Re: DJ Styles
Might want to check out AbletonLiveDJ.com too. :) Wow. Great resource, thanks! I read your post about how you setup your sets for live performance - really informative! So far, my live sets are comprised of all original material. A couple of questions: I'm assuming that you're rendering any/all of ...

DJ Styles
I'm new to this, so I'd like to get a feel for how you guys (and gals) go about DJ'ing. I'm familiar with the basic setups for Ableton, so my question pertains mostly to style/technique. One way would be to simply load/warp entire tracks into Ableton, and then mix them live - pretty basic. But, how ...

Re: First Time Gig
Just played a set tonight at an art house party - my first performance using only Ableton and the material I've composed thus far with it. The "big" show is this weekend where I'm booked for a full evening - 3 sets. The most helpful thing I discovered tonight was, because of the way I've d...

First Time Gig
Hey everyone... I've got my first solo gig coming up soon, and wanted to know if any of you veterans out there have some tips for performing with Ableton. I'll just be using Ableton and my Launchpad controller. My sets will be made up of all original songs I've composed. Each song is broken up into ...

Re: Audio Cables and/or Soundcard
So, basically what I'm looking for is a good sound quality, audio interface that will be connected to a PA.

Re: Audio Cables and/or Soundcard
If budget us your issue, get the TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt 6 for about $150. It will solve your sound problems. Also get TRS 1/4" cables from SameDayMusic or Sweetwater. It requires FIREWIRE, if you don't have that, consider an EMU 2020 USB or other compatible interface. So, the Konnekt 6 ...

Audio Cables and/or Soundcard
I have Ableton running on the most recent (basic) Mac laptop. I did a live performance with it last night with a couple other musicians, and the sound output wasn't good. I connected an 1/8" male (on both ends) RadioShack audio cable from the Mac's audio input/output jack to a mixer which was i...

Re: Playing Sections of Samples
Thanks for your suggestions! Sorry, I didn't clarify, but I was talking about recording in Arrangement View as opposed to Session. However, I figured out how to get what I needed (thanks to your suggestion, dentaku). I simply created an Audio track, and selected it's input to be that of the Simpler ...

Playing Sections of Samples
Greetings! I've loaded a 2 minute sample of birds singing by a lake into Simpler. Thrown on lots of delay and reverb, and it sounds really cool - if I play the sample low enough via MIDI, it almost sounds like whales! Anyhow, my question is this: I would like to record different sections of this sam...

Re: Saving Created "Instruments"?
if you can't group devices, maybe you can - as a workaround - use a clip as "preset-holder". Drag a clip from the channel with your instrument to the library (or any other folder that you want to use for your instrument presets). When dragging that clip into a new set the instrument and e...
