I got a pair of the NHT A10 Pro Studio Monitor System for 400 dollars on clearance. They don't have a lot of bass but sound tight and even from 60Hz on up. Regarding the Impulse click bug... When I drag a section of audio from the Arrange view, I drag it onto an empty track first, ctrl+j and then drag it onto the Impulse pad. when you drag a clip from the session view into the impulse, there is a click at the end of the sample.

I've had the same experience as mcconaghy. I've never thought that my tracks sounded any different after rendering.

Who runs a virus scanner with "on access scan?"

I was talking with a friend last night and we think our virus scan software might be to blame for the Live crashes. Indeed, with his computer, which had the same problem, Live takes a half hour to load unless you disable the virus scan.

I think it's a Live problem, rather than the fault of any VST. The quick fix is to rename your VST Plugins folder and then run Live. This seems to fix the problem.

This doesn't quite explain funmaster's work around. Why is it that when you

1. copy your VST Plugins to a temp directory
2. run Live
3. quit Live
4. put the VSTs back where they started

Perhaps for a different test, but what I'm trying to find is the lowest possible latency for running Live to process live audio. Nope. It's for all versions of Live. They moved the preferences folder in Live 4 to

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Ableton\Live 4.0.4\Preferences

The Options.txt still helps.
