Hi there..

Just looking at renting a small office space to work on music. There is a place across the road from me in Clapton offering one for £49 per week, which is reasonable. I am taking a look at it this weekend. Do you know of a place?

I was wondering if anyone on here (who's based in London) had the skinny on music studio/rehearsal space rental in the Hackney area? I have looked online, but figured I would ask around here as well. Basically I am looking to rent a cheap space for my decks, computer, midi controllers, etc ...

Agreed.
For me, production has just completed the package. I feel that just being a DJ or just being a producer is not enough, but being both feels right, like two halves becoming a whole (pardon the expression!)

I agree with Robert that you don't need to be a producer to be a DJ or vice versa. I know plenty of successful DJs who do not produce their own music and many producers who have never done a DJ set.

A good DJ has to know which track to deliver to the audience in which moment, (s)he needs to have an overview of what goes on musically, has to understand the needs of different audiences etc... A producer mainly should ...

No reputable agency will sign a DJ unless he/she has some releases on a major record label. Sending mix CD's is not the way anymore. Its' all about production and being signed with a label.
