Re: Microphone being used as trigger pad? (yes siree!)
OSC sends and receives are a lot more stable than Max's normal send/receive for getting information between tracks. I know someone said on the forum that this was not the case, but I use OSC to send signals from a single track set to accept midi in realtime from my electronic drum kit to several ot...

Re: Plastikman's Ableton setup for live shows....crazy
I have to agree with trevox on the complexity part, same idea here. What also surprised me is that you saw no mentioning what. so. ever. about Max for Live. Even though Max for Live is what's powering that Kapture device he's talking about. Yet he merely calls it "a plugin". Dude... Talk ...

Re: Latency and Performance issues
with a PCMCIA card i will need a new external drive, correct? What should i be looking for here? If you have no external drive with a firewire port, then you will have to buy one that does. Or if you have a drive already, you could just buy an external HD enclosure with firewire. for internal they ...

Re: Record reverb
I agree, always best to have a dry signal recorded. A good rule of thumb is that anything that is played live and cannot be exactly replicated again should be recorded dry as you can always add effects (hardware or software) later, but you cannot easily take it away if not happy with it!

Re: Microphone being used as trigger pad? (yes siree!)
To make it clear: You'll need 2 devices on 2 tracks. - one "max audio effect" that analyzes the microphone signal. Only audio effect can have a audio input. - and a "max midi effect" on a different track that can send midi out. Than you can send the trigger information from the ...

Re: Latency and Performance issues
Not sure about why the VST's are causing such an issue, but on performance... I think your weakest link is most definitely the processor. Extra RAM may not improve performance at all as if you are not getting into virtual memory territory with the amount of stuff you have loaded, upgrading could pot...

Re: Plastikman's Ableton setup for live shows....crazy
It's not that complicated really!! The audio routing makes a lot of sense (though particularly given he has everything routed through an analog desk, he should still use hardware, not plugins - don't care what it costs on flights!), but all the OSC routing stuff for the visuals/lighting is actually ...

Unfortunately the freeze button is greyed out too. Again I totally understand if you don't want to share the inner workings of this. I am sure it took you quite a while to create it!! I still think there should be a way for you to unfreeze it yb yourself, but I also don't mind to give it to you: un...

Re: Help with external audio cards
I think it's a case of learning to live with it then. You should go through the Live manual (I think there is a section on compensating for latency) - while this will not get rid of the latency, at least all of your music will be in sync. I have no other advice to offer apart from that, sorry.

Re: Electronic cigarettes
I think one of the reasons ecigs didn’t work for me is my addictive personality needs a definitive stop point. I’m done drinking when the glass is empty or there’s no more alcohol in the building. I’m done with my smoke when it’s down close to the filter. With ecigs you just never know and a true a...

Re: Think I'm going Mac, is (Feb 2011) 13" MacBook Pro i7 good?
FFS. A little future proofing is good if you can afford it, but people always talk like if you don't get the absolute top of the line computer then making music won't at all be possible. Great music has been made before the release of the latest 15" MBP. :x I'd say get the 13" and a secon...

Re: SHARE: Operator Advanced Envelope
Yes, the most recent version (without Lmult and Ldiv) works great cross platform. To be honest, I feel I will use it more to modulate non-operator parameters, though not necessarily Live parameters. I generally use UDP to send data across tracks (or even programs) to other M4L patches or VST/AU eff...

Re: Help with external audio cards
The lower the buffer size, the lower your latency. Lower that as much as you can (until the audio starts crackling). Sorry, I presumed you had already tried lowering this as much as you could.

Re: How to Make a "Complextro" style Sound
Why are people inventing stupid names for genres of music? I had to google what "complextro" meant and people have been doing this for years - and to much better effect than a lot of the newer stuff I listened to. Why create a new name all of a sudden? And it's not all that complex either,...
