Dave Nuremberg - Live Set

I don't normally link my music, but thought I may as well! I recorded a rehearsal of a live set I played a couple of weeks ago. It's a single take, using pretty much all hardware synths apart from the very odd sample here and there and a few recorded fillers while I changed setup/patches etc between...

Re: Record two midi Tracks at once

If you have 2 midi keyboards, you don't need to go to any lengths to do this. Simply select the different midi inputs on 2 midi strips and arm both tracks - that's it. If you want to split the same keyboard, you may need a little more trickery, but it is easy enough to do.

Re: display a track's level meter

trevox, i tested your patches, it seems to work smoothly. But i'd hope for a cleaner approach, since that would be part of my default live set... What I posted was just the method for getting the signal from one place to another. If you wanted it fully set up in your default set, I would suggest cr...

Re: display a track's level meter

Hey madlab, it works. So thanks ! But i got another problem : the observer is reporting values very slowly, causing a very laggy display... just check the max windox : i would expect it to be flooded with numbers, but it's not : <pre><code> ----------begin_max5_patcher---------- 738.3ocuWtsbaBCDF9Z...

Re: Breaking Bad

Wasn't disappointed at the ending - it pretty much happened as it had to. Was a bit surprised with what happened to the Schwartz's - thought they were gonners for sure. Good to see Badger and Skinny Pete getting a final cameo too. The scene with the Aryans was well OTT, but it was nice to see them g...

Re: iPad

I'm digging iOS 7 so far... Reminds me of the old Ableton site. Put it on my phone, but not the iPad. I'm half considering jailbreking my iPad for XBMC and will wait to see whether 6.1.3 or 7 gets released first. It's a bit lego-y looking, but working pretty good so far. Siri has improved a lot I m...

Re: iPad

Personally I love Auria, it's a really fun DAW to use for me. Feed it anything you want via Audiobus, record and edit it later. The one thing I like about the iPad Audiobus way of working, is that it makes you focus 100% on the app you're actually manipulating. So even though you might be just usin...

Re: iPad

So on one level Mira is more plug-n-play but on another its more deep level programming? In one way yes as you have to have programmed Max in the first place! On the other hand, you don't need to do any additional programming - you simply move a pane over the controls you want to see on the iPad an...

Re: iPad

The Lemur app is pretty much the same price as Mira. I will always use Max as a kind of hub to interface with my controllers, so that's why I went for it. It is still in it's infancy, but the fact it just recognises any open version of Max on the same network and communicates natively with no OSC or...

Re: Ableton vs Logic engine

Yes, some have attempted to limit the discussion to this but the debate as it started way back wasn't and isn't limited to audio summing nor does audio summing equate with audio playback, no matter what you say. Maybe equate was the wrong word - correlates might be more accurate. But anyway, given ...

Re: Ableton vs Logic engine

1) put drumloop into Logic Pro X.. listening 2) put same drumloop into Ableton Live 9.. listening 3) switch from Ableton to Logic and back.. Result: same sound. Used: Macbook Pro (md101), Focusrite Saffire Pro 14, Genelec 8030 It comes to "Logic sound different then Live" when you start t...

Re: Ableton vs Logic engine

Tracks are prepared to the the exact same db in both DAWs Nothing else is added or distorted Masters are prepared and found (with some adjustments) to be bit by bit the same by nullifying (or being as close as possible) This is the crux of the argument. If you have the same audio tracks in two diff...

Re: Ableton vs Logic engine

@mikb - what people are trying to say here is that debate has happened on the differences in "audio summing" in different DAWS. This absolutely equates to what you call "audio track playback". So while on one had no-one would disagree that if you take a single track that it would...
