HI all,
Latest gold release of v8 on a PC with Win7Pro - had a HD failure and was on XPPro - so upgraded to new HDD and to Win7Pro... all nice and stable.
But - previous I was able to go to a Folder (eg: My Couputer > etc) and drag a MIDI file out and onto the Live window. This no longer works ...

Re: Re-naming "USB Audio Device" in Win XP
Darn - I sort of thought it was whack and now I know it is TOTALLY whack!
So - I need to first off reinstall all my drivers for all my various devices (what happened to "plug and play"?) and second it seems I have to name my USB Hub's ports?
Is that right? (I could have misunderstood that part ...

I don't know either - but am merely stating "you are not alone".
It is a huge pain especially when you have a couple of MIDI controllers...
anyone out there care to shed some light on this? (I am not a fan of editing the Registry)
thanks in advance.

Re: Hardware sampler for creative sampling
Yeah I agree with most of the stuff raised - it is such a shame that USB was not around...
But for most of the larger samplers (most AKAI, EMU and some Roland) there are still 3rd party utilities to aid in transfer and editing. With the SCSI samplers - if you have an Adaptec 2490 (can't recall ...

Live 8 "intro" version - will it handle SoundFonts?
Hi - with the "intro" version be able to handle sound fonts like the full version of Live? I think the answer is "no" as I think Sound Fonts need to have Sampler and it seems that "intro" only has Simpler and not Sampler...
Of course I can't try this myself as my PC has the full Suite! Doh ...

Axiom Pro + Live 8 on a PC - pre-sales question
Hi there
Just considering the M-Audio Axiom Pro - it got a pretty good write up in the latest SOS mag.
I had a trawl thru the forums here and it appears there are issues with it's HyperControl - and I also see that Live 8.08 is on the horizon.
But if anyone has one - how are you finding it (just ...

It seems that 8.05 has addressed these issues.

Re: Korg microSAMPLER
I wonder - does it have USB? which is OK - but it would have been better to have SD card and USB - not that I have seen the unit or seen the full specs yet...
If it had some memory card slot as well as USB and was not priced out of the park - could be interesting...as someone above me said - if the ...

Re: Slow disk browser & also Alt-TAB lagging (v8.04 - WinXP SP3)
Yes - I too have defragged - I doubt that it is a HD issue - as it is new and has 200GB of free space. Have just turned off a bunch of other services - no change.
Ran a demo copy of Live 8 on a G4 PowerBook - some loops off an external HDD - no problems there. (live was slow - only cause it was ...

Slow disk browser & also Alt-TAB lagging (v8.04 - WinXP SP3)
Hi all - had a scout round these forums and nothing was hitting me between the eyes!
Anyhow - as the title says XP Pro SP3 with Live 8.04. My loop library is on a sep HD but in the same PC case - prob about 8GB of WAV's - sometimes when I click on the File Browser (there are 3 buttons on the left ...

Re: How to get an awesome EMU 'Planet Earth' patch onto Mac?
Sorry - I can only repeat that I tried what you are trying and I wasted a LOT of time and got nowhere.
Appreciate that the $60 is a lot for "one sound" but for that $ you get ALL the sounds - pre-mapped - all ready to go.
I am not a salesman for these SF's but man oh man - it was a total god send ...

Re: How to get an awesome EMU 'Planet Earth' patch onto Mac?
I borrowed the appropriate CD from a friend and spent weeks trying to map the WAV sample correctly across the keyboard. And then it decided to not work - am using PC and Mac btw - but there did not seem to be any "magic combination" of software that would let me (YMMV) get the sound from the CD and ...

Re: How to get an awesome EMU 'Planet Earth' patch onto Mac?
If you work it out then spread the word.
But I struggled for A LONG TIME (eg: more then 2 months off and on) so the $$ was nothing considering the time spent trying to work it out. Plus it is so streamlined. And it is mapped correctly across the keyboard. And it just works.
All the best.

Re: How to get an awesome EMU 'Planet Earth' patch onto Mac?
OK - SoundFonts - struggled with this for AGES...
You need Sampler btw.
Go to samplecraze.com - buy the appropriate SoundFont (whole range to choose from) - quite cheap - just d/load and unzip the file - open Live 7 or 8 - at the same time open the download folder - then just drag and drop it into ...

Making MIDI stick? Mapping MIDI to Sampler? Live 7 and 8.
Hi all
Did a search through the forums and I could not find a specific mention of this.
So - in Live - I drag Sampler in - drag in a WAV file into Sampler - go to the various tabs (say Filter and so on) and assign some MIDI controls (say to Freq and so on) - play the sample - twiddle the knobs ...
