I don't think they will ever change this. It took them only 10 years for some basic feature requests. So you better start learning something else if you want to access more than 128 parameters in your lifetime.
Yes, it's an absurd limitation. These days, I just open another DAW and laugh. Live was ...

Saved search and combining different device format?
How can I get this into my left pane (browser) saved search? Imagine this.
I have a VST3 effect says "TDR Infrasonic". It resides in its VST3 folder where all VST3 plugins are installed. And I created some of the vst3 Presets that are in my Ableton User Library.

Re: Recording modulation of a parameter
Today there are 3 ways to control a parameter from M4L, each with its advantages and drawbacks :
1. using live.object :
It's more or less like using the mouse or keyboard, meaning it's not audio rate, it's recordable, it doesn't "grab" the control, and it creates undo history.
2. using live ...

Re: Collision from older Live versions into v12?
So the suggestion is to use the old Live version to freeze the Collision MIDI tracks to make sure that the original sound is being preserved. There's no way (as far as I know) to use Live 12 with the "old" Collision version as these instruments have been updated and sound different since Live 11.1 ...

Re: Recording modulation of a parameter
I just found this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKMhFLADXfg and the device is only 1$ so no problem there. Since the video and device are more than 7 years old perhaps there's something else? Any tip?

Have a look here:

Thank you cids. But this is not what I am after. They propose freeze and flatten but that would mean sound shaping from the instrument is gone. I came to that idea myself and ...

Collision from older Live versions into v12?
Guys, I have an unusual question regarding Collision Instrument, an unsung hero.
I've been away from music for a long time. Recently, I upgraded my Ableton from version 9 to 12. I immediately noticed that some tracks sounded different. After much research, I noticed that my Collision actually ...

Recording modulation of a parameter
So after some 10-15 years of using Live, I finally decided to toy with modulations. Believe it or not, I had never done it until recently. I have a trivial situation given the circumstances of how far behind I am with various techniques. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if this is something easy to ...

Mapping from other pads in a drum rack.
So I have a drum rack and I am not using Simpler or Samplers in a drum rack I am using one VSTi (Drumazon that is - a 909 drum machine).
It is set up so basically VST is loaded in drum slot C1 and every other instrument is mapped accordingly and it receives a signal from the VST instrument with an ...

Re: Ableton Live clock SYNC and delay compensation - 2021
I'm able to use this plugin v2.04 on Windows with Live 10 and 11. The plugin works like a charm as soon as I untick the Live track box for the MIDI port in the preferences. I'm unable to make it work if the box is already ticked. If I try to tick the box while the plugin is working, I got ...

You (probably) trialed Suite and then later installed Standard edition.chinaexpert1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 5:56 pmI exported it successfully from Trial.
I had to click the Back to Arrangement button or else the export is silence

Is there a device that will randomize specific pool of parameters (genetics)...
So I was looking at the Dune preset browser. They have something called "genetics mode" where you can select patches and generate a patch based on the "genetics" of those patches. I was thinking about it and I guess this (presumably) just means mixing the parameters between two patches in some ...

I have more folders. Named by categories. Your structure may vary. Do whatever is best for your workflow.

Re: Default MIDI Track for Instruments
Is there a way to set up the devices you want when you create a new midi track by dropping an instrument in the "Drop Files and Devices Here" area? I know you can create a new track, then drop the instrument, but it seems like there should be a way to set the other devices you want when adding an ...
