Try re-installing the driver and then plugging it into the back port.

Where are you plugging the USB cable into.

I was having the same problem with my XPS. I foud out its because of where i was plugging in the USB. I have two back and two side USB ports. The side ports did not have enough power to maintain the MIDI (trigger Finger) I had to plug into the back USB and it worked perfectly.

Good News!!

Its not a OS issue its a USB power issue. When i was first plugging in my USB i was using the side ports, (after being on hold on the M-AUDIO phone line for a few minutes) A recording popped on stating to users not to use secondary USB ports as the ones in the back are powered at a higer rate.

Talked to someone at M-Audio today not sure if they totally understood my issue but they recommended this link, I will try when i g tout of the day job:

I am having th same problem

I have a Dell XPS 2 gig Ram 80G HD with 200G External, where i have ableton running off of.

I am able to use the Trigger finger for about a minute or two and then the MIdi signal stop transmitting. .

When I use my old X-session MIdi it works consitently, but obiuosly it is more limited than the TF ...
