Re: Virtual PC for windows 7

Excellent. I was reading that XPV ran with generic drivers so i take it you couldn't run live and install audio drivers etc? I wanted to see if i could run Live 8 before doing anything radical. Anyway i'm going back to XP. Would have been nice to try out VPC in windows 7 though.

Virtual PC for windows 7

Just came across this: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx

Anyone tried this? I can't as my processor doesn't support virtualisation. Windows 7 is shaping up nicely. 8)

Re: Maschine Vs Stylus RMX Vs Ableton?

I played with Maschine at a local music store for an hour straight today, really getting in the zone without feeling like there was a learning curve. It felt much less Hackish than my current Guru/Padkontrol combo - I'm considering selling my APC actually.... Can you totally delete sounds from the ...

Re: Ableton Live 8 + padKontrol = all i ever wanted from an mpc

mac vs pc is like the neverending story in electronics It's a neverending story here and it's analogous to the ridiculous hardware vs. software debate, which we are seeing again, for the 32405982093487th time, in this thread. If a guy wants to have 10 mpc's in his studio, so be it. If another guy w...

Re: How is Live 8 with vista 32bit?

The choices for Operating Systems on PCs for DAW software is XP SP3, and Win 7. Thats it. Vista is not worth the trouble as a DAW and never has been since its release, its fundamentally broken. Theres a reason why my work and thousands of other organisations decided to skip Vista, after much testin...

Re: How is Live 8 with vista 32bit?

You can download the service packs and install them manually. It's SP2 for vista, not 3. Getting mixed up with XP. I was kinda surprised that my bios was so out of date but updating it does seem to be giving me a more stable able-ton. :) Downloading SP2 right now. Should I care for other updates? I...

Re: Maschine Vs Stylus RMX Vs Ableton?

Maschine because it integrates everything. With Ableton i'd probably get the apc40 as it's a dedicated controller too. Either way you won't have to use a mouse for beatmaking. Maschine is probably the best bang for the buck.

Re: How is Live 8 with vista 32bit?

A quick look at Dell's web site shows that almost all of the XP drivers for the Inspiron 1525 were last updated in 2008. They're only a year or more old. Why not try XP anyway? You may be pleasantly surprised. Just purchase a cheap hard drive for your laptop, swap it out, and load XP. If you don't ...

I don't know about the suite but Live usually asks if you want to add, keep or replace the library content when installing an update.

Re: How is Live 8 with vista 32bit?

I don't know about the SP3 thing, I'll have to check. This computer has never been connected to the web, so never updated. That's maybe the solution. Tomorrow I am travelling for a gig, but I will sure take a look next week. You can download the service packs and install them manually. It's SP2 for...
