You'll be just fine with Live 5. It sounds like it will do absolutely everything you need and you can grow with it. Spend some time with the demo

Just a few more thoughts on this one. I speak as an exerienced musician, but a hobbyist, not a pro. The great advantage (as LOFA suggests) of Logic Pro is the terrific instruments, esepcially Sculpture which is just about the clearest sounding, most transparent physical modelling synth available. I ...

A few more thoughts on this....I first entered the computer software instrument/DAW world two years ago. As a newcomer, I started with LIVE 3 as it was so intuitive to use and at first I was audio oriented. Then I piucked up Logic 6 because I was able to get it at a good price with an educator's ...

well...if all of that happens the quality of XM will decline and they will lose many subscribers, including me.....the frustrating thing is that it's because of Clear Channel that FM radio sucks in the first place...and I find myself looking to satellites.....

we'll see what happens...thanks for ...

This is from XM's web site.....I wouldn't say that Clear Channel owns XM but clearly there is an important relationship. So you are partly right. Either way, it's discouraging to see.

There is no evidence here that the playlists are selected by CC....you may be right about that, too...I don't know ...

XM is not owned by Clear Channel.....I've had it for six months and the format hasn't changed on any of the stations....all of the jazz and world beat channels are excellent with a great variety of selections and highly intelligent programming....I'm 55 yeas old and I've been listening to all kinds ...

I have XM and I find the programming very impressive...of course, it depends on what you listen to! I have my radio set for the beyond jazz channel which is a fine mix of fusion, electronica, and contemporary jazz...the traditional jazz channel is great, too. They also have a half dozen world beat ...

I'm using a 1GHZ Mac Laptop with 1.2 Mb of memory. Reaktor 4.1 was stable with Live 4.0, but it crashes regularly with Live 4.1

That's what's happening on my end.......

I think Operator is a fine synthesizer. I use Logic Pro, Tassman, reaktor, and hard synths such as the Yamaha S90, Karma, and Planet Earth so I have plenty to compare it to. It's clear, clear, clear. The pads are lush, and the interface is brilliant, as usual. Also, as noted above, it is seamlessly ...

Thanks for providing this excellent demo. It's a great way to expand Live's capabilities.

I installed the demo as suggested in the instructions (for 4.04) using OSX 10.3.5 on a 1ghz Powerbook.

However, the installer didn't automatically place the files in Live. In fact, it didn't work at all. So I ...

LIVE is also great for beginners. I started using it about a year ago and I had no DAW experience. It was an accessible and fun way to get started. Since then I have gotten more deeply into soft synths and I've picked up LOGIC 7 (mainly for the great soft synths). But I could certainly be happy ...

Soft synth: audio/midi question

I've been exploring Tassman 4.0 as an audio units plug in on my 1GHZ 512k ram laptop, using a MOTU 828mkII.

When I record a patch with some movement, using a MIDI track (let's say... slow flange drive) and then play it back, it sounds choppy and out of time...basically unusable...

Similarly if I ...

I'm having similar problems with LIVE 4.01 and Reaktor Sessions 1.1.2.

1GHZ Powerbook Mac 512k MOTU 828mkII

Whenever I try opening a live set that has a reaktor effect or synth, it crashes live...even if it's only one audio or one midi track in the entire set...and/or one instance of reaktor ...

I am new to digital audio recording, having started with LIVE 3 in January and picked up LOGIC PRO in March. But as a 54 year old, I've been around music for quite awhile. I don't understand why people spend so much time declaring allegiance to one program or another. They are both great programs ...
