Re: Saffire PRO 24 doesn't produce sound after wake on MBP?

to the OP's question: if you start up your computer and get no sound through the saffire, go to mix control and in sync source switch from internal to any other option, then back again to internal and everything should be ok. saves rebooting the computer or turning power off and on with the saffire...

Re: Saffire PRO 24 doesn't produce sound after wake on MBP?

To everybody with a Saffire Pro, Can you guys confirm for me whether theres a seriously annoying issue with changing buffer rates in Live? If working on a quite cpu intensive set, if I change sample rate (to record instead of mix/vise versa) the cpu can increase by 50% becoming almost unusable EVEN...

Re: Saffire PRO 24 doesn't produce sound after wake on MBP?

Put the laptop to sleep before shutting down the Saffire. Power up the Saffire before waking up the laptop. Works like a charm for me. I'll try this one if switching the clock source as dm suggests doesn't work. But this one probably won't work for me since I use my laptop away from my gear for oth...

Re: Saffire PRO 24 doesn't produce sound after wake on MBP?

When mine loses connection like that, the only way to sync it back up is to restart the MBP. Fwiw, the Saffire is not supposed to be powered on or connected to the MBP while the MBP is on, as plugging or unplugging it from the MBP while the MBP is on can possibly damage it. I read this on the Focus...

Re: Saffire PRO 24 doesn't produce sound after wake on MBP?

I completely quit Live before putting the laptop to sleep (and I quit it before disconnecting my interface).

Saffire PRO 24 doesn't produce sound after wake on MBP?

I started using a Saffire PRO 24 over the weekend and have come across an issue. I'm hoping someone here knows of a way to resolve it. My interface is being connected to my MacBook Pro via a FireWire 400 to 800 cable. When I'm done working, I power off my interface, disconnect it from my laptop, and...

Spotlight base searching on OS X

Iterating the whole file system tree is ridiculous, and very slow, when you have at your disposal an API that queries a database of metadata.

Re: Automating track delay

Great idea. Thank you. The only downside is you can't do "negative delay" with this method.

Re: Layering an Operator from a specific Drum Rack track?

In regard to your first suggestion, the idea is that I wouldn't have to double the work for every clip I create on the Drum Rack track. Clips 1, 2, 3, etc. on the Drum Rack track could all have different kick patterns and the Operator track would follow along no matter which clip is playing. I will ...

Layering an Operator from a specific Drum Rack track?

Page 185 of the manual talks about layering MIDI tracks to augment an already playing track. I would like to use this sort of setup to augment the kicks from a Drum Rack kit. I am able to get input on my monitoring track if I select the master Post FX output on the Drum Rack, but not if I select the...

Re: iTunes to Ableton

The mp4 files you cannot open with Live are DRM protected. You can remove the DRM from the mp4 files with iTunes:
  • Open iTunes
  • Go to the iTunes Store
  • Click "iTunes Plus" in the "Quick Links" box on the right side of the page
  • Select the songs you want to unlock and pay the upgrade fee

Re: Problem Loading Clips

As ollyb303 said, you have the clip set to only play a small section of the overall sample (song). Look at my markup of your third screen shot -- http://i53.tinypic.com/28taow8.png . Notice that I have indicated the four components that determine which parts of the clip will play. The clip will star...

Re: Moving Forward - Answers and Users' Help Exchange

I'm with the crowd that thinks deprecating this forum in favor of Answers is a bad idea. As a StackExchange user, primarily StackOverflow, I find Answers to be woefully inadequate. The impression I get from Answers is that someone at Ableton uses StackOverflow and thought they could imitate it. The ...

Re: Track volume and mastering question

I was thinking about starting a very similar topic earlier. Since the discussion is already started, I'll go ahead and post my question here. When I'm creating my loops, and then arrangements, in Live I try to balance out the levels across all of my tracks so that the master level doesn't break 0.0...
