Re: Changing the APC40 mappings for built-in devices
Thanks for the reply Alex. Yes kind of a bummer ... I hope that M4L resolves this in future. Even if they provided the names of some XML or config files that could be hand-edited to rebind these functions, that would be better than nothing. I actually think it's good that when you manually MIDI map ...

Changing the APC40 mappings for built-in devices
Hi guys, I'm fairly new to the APC40, and apologies if this has been answered before. but: Is it possible to change the default pot mappings for Live's built-in devices? Some of the mappings that it uses by default are very broken and unusable, and it would be great to be able to reconfigure what yo...

Nice. It's actually been a few years since the last time I saw Mark play. I gotta peep one of his sets sometime soon ..

Length of new clip in session view = quantize length
Right now, regardless of what quantize length you have set, a new clip created in the session view is exactly 1 bar long. When you are building up loops / parts, you usually want them to be the same length, so it would be great if the length of a new clip was equal to the quantize length (with perha...

Re: Auto-punch-out and loop for slot recording?
Ahhh K I think I have it now. Basically you have to be able to reach over and click the red 'play' button on the clip before the quantize time ends. Either that you or you just create the clip ahead of time with the correct length and then it auto-loops. One small gripe - regardless of what time you...

Re: Mushroom Jazz goodness, 80 mins of hiphop, soul, jazz & funk
Thanks dude, glad you're feeling it! About the MJ1 bonus CD, that's nuts! That sounds pretty forward thinking. I hear that CDs released today are sometimes pre-cut into multitracks so that they can be remixed, I guess crate-digging for instrumentals and acapellas has really changed these days huh. A...

Yeah word to that. I actually only hopped on board when vol 4 came out, and I must have clocked up at least a hundred or more straight through listens on that mix by now.

Auto-punch-out and loop for slot recording?
Hi guys, I've been using Live for DJing for years and am just trying to move to it for production too (I'm a Cubase guy, stretching back maybe 8 years). Anyhow - what I'm trying to do is record a loop (of pre-determined length) into a Session view slot and then have it auto-play as soon as it punche...

Mushroom Jazz goodness, 80 mins of hiphop, soul, jazz & funk
For those of you who have never listened to these works of art by Mark Farina, I suggest you go check em out now. This is the fifth in a series of MJ-tipped mixtapes I've put together, going into hip-hop, soul, jazz and funk. 53 tracks in 80 minutes, perfect chill-out tunes and general good vibes li...

Can you auto-warp chopped samples on a drum rack?
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but if I take a loop, chop it to a drum rack, and then change the song tempo to be different to the tempo of the original loop, the slices don't warp to the new tempo, they just stay the same. Is there any way to get this behaviour without setting song tempo, e...

Thanks Pepez ... yeah that was actually the first thing I tried. Unfortunately doing it that way means you sacrifice polyphony and also it means that those MIDI assignments are stolen for when you actually want to play an instrument with them. Using Live 6, it seems like that approach is the best on...
