Re: Desktop.ini file creation on PC

In theory it's a Windows feature.

But in my case Ableton Live is creating them.

I removed them with File Explorer in windows.
Then browing in Live v8 browser and immediately they were created again, using the Live folder icon, if the folder feature a Live-related file in it
(alc / adg) ...

Desktop.ini file creation on PC

Is there a way to stop Ableton from creating DESKTOP.ini file for folders caontaining ableton-related data ?

I'm sick of this 'feature'.

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE !!!

Live 9.1, still nothing about a fix for the browser-nightmare issue.

I (the original poster of this thread) finally didnt upgrade to 9.

Now I have to choose between one my most anticipated feature (dual monitor support) and user-friendly browser of v8 and I think browsing will win ...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

Breaking news, indexing a 2.5 TB sound library with millions of samples takes a lot of time on a mechanical HDD. More news at eleven! In all seriousness I love the new browser. You can't blame Ableton for the hardware limitations of your setup. Indexing such a huge library isn't going to happen qui...

Re: New Laptop - 32 or 64 bit?

You can have both 32 and 64 bits on the same system, as far as the OS is 64 bit. Future is 64, but 32 allows to play previous sets. I'll got for both. About plugins : I always installed 32 bits and 64 bits plugins to different folders. But Live 32 only load 32 bits plugs and 64 only 64 bits plugs, s...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

When mirroring only the drive ID is different, everything else is the same (timestamp, last access date etc...) Another audio prog. which use index is Traktor : it's indexation method is pretty similar to ableton, I mean it check in a specified folder which file is "readable" by the progra...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

Yes but in my case a small single HDD unit is more portable than a Nas Box, so I prefer a weekly night mirroring as a backup instead of realtime syncing ... Sure it seems that Ableton are not going to change their mind about the 9 indexer. But I still have hope that they will maybe implement TWO &q...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

androids issues are no matter what you think, perfectly and deserved in some way : sorry this sounds rude but IMO, if you were "good" so "reliable" enough, even in a dream you NEVER would have thought about take your huge pile of crap and com^plaint about Live which after all is...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

artpunk, you're right, another drive IS another drive. but 102455 is even more right, it THAT case, it should be seen by Live as the same drive. Live 8 is browsing my spare drive as the original one, as far as it has the same allocation letter in the OS. Seems that if you mirror your boot HDD and ha...

Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE : this time it's enough !

My previous thread here : https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=190475 started to proove that everyone with a LARGE sample collection should be aware that the live 9 browser is a real pain in the ass in term of slow indexing, even on fast i7 machines and USB 3 disks. Fine. Now there is a...
