when I go to the Ableton website it loads in german

what can I do about this? I can't read German. I've tried my bookmark, google searches, etc. If I modify the URL manually to remove the .de it just goes right back...

Ableton cache folder - any way to stop it from rebuilding?

I use an external drive as my main audio drive, so I have the cache folder set to be on the external. If I'm out and about and I open Ableton and work on a new project it changes the cache folder to the internal drive. The problem is that when I plug in the external Ableton deletes the old cache fol...

Re: Fast way to clear MIDI clip - live drum programming

hrm, perhaps a quick command to load a new 2-4 bar empty clip? I'm also only now discovering that record quantize is stuck in the 'edit' menu, wish I could assign something to toggle between 1/16th and 1/8th. I'm just now starting to attempt creating tracks spontaneously with my liveset, typically I...

Fast way to clear MIDI clip - live drum programming

Is there a super fast quick easy way to press a button and have a MIDI clip revert to an empty clip?

The idea here is that I'm populating the clip with drum hits via a Launchpad, eventually it piles up, and I'd like to be able to clear out the clip. Do I just have to use another blank clip?

Re: my kicks sound too mono

a lot of kicks have a mid/high layer, something like a hat, clap or other perc. hit. You can use the upper range to create more of a stereo image that strikes when the kick hits. I've seen kicks that create a vertical oval on a scope, so I'm thinking a spatial tool was used. It's already been mentio...

Re: Exporting audio querie

well, when making your edits it's best to set your tempo to match the track, this way the warping algorithm won't have to flex. And avoid any post processing unless you feel it's needed.

Re: APC40 as DJ MIXER

What I did is this; download the PDF manual from a mixer you want to emulate, say a Pioneer 2000 or something. Check the specs, they will list the center frequencies and the cut/boost amounts. However, there's no consideration for bandwidth, so you'll just have to use your ears. Also, I suggest a 3r...

Re: ALS files MAC - PC compatable?

Yes, it will definitely work. You may want to select your clips and click 'save' in the lower left just to be sure.

I bounce back and forth from PC to Mac and both project files and warped audio has had no problem switching back and forth.

Does Live have envelope curves?

I googled and found a post from 2005 with several users asking for it; http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=27368&start=0&hilit=automation+curves I searched the manual and it tells me how to "draw" curves. I'm hoping I just left a previously unknown box unchecked or som...

Mac. I'm guessing you're talking about an OS solution instead of an Ableton solution?

Any way to disable the F10 key?

It's right next to the 'fullscreen' key, and all it does is stop my set cold. I generally try to disable all "shut down" buttons in order to make stopping in the middle of a set hard to do.

Pondering the meaning of the decoding cache

I had a look inside my decoding cache folder, and there are numerous multiple copies of the same file in there. When I open a new set Ableton is making new copies of all the files that it decoded. The folder has also exceeded the limit set in the preferences. I'm definitely seeing a strong case for ...

Re: Slow loading DJ project, HD overloads, fun times

I've read about live doing the internal conversion, but how was it working before when I had it disabled? Was it all living in the RAM? That would explain why I could go on for 1-2 hours before noticing an issue. It's definitely alarming though to see my start-up time go from under 1 minute, to over...

Re: Slow loading DJ project, HD overloads, fun times

Oh hey, what's up man?, it's Wesley D. from LivePA, thanks for the suggestion. I actually had this setting turned off. I've never had this HD overload thing happen until very recently, and at the moment it's not happening at all, but I suppose I should let Live have some cache. The manual doesn't ex...
