imo opinion, it doesnt matter how fast the hd is. its all in the transfer rate of your interface. i use usb, and it is slow. not impedingly slow. firewire is faster than usb. my next build is going to have sata interface for an external drive. either that or two of the raptor drives which have a 100...

i have a 20gb internal drive(5400 rpm) and a 160 gb external(7600 rpm). i use my internal for live and plugins and the other one for samples, project files, and processed samples. im going to upgrade my internal to a sata, as this would alleviate some of my problems with the drive slowing my project...

if im reading your question correctly, then just hit record in arrangement view at the top. then start and make the adjustments to your effects. it should record them automatically.

you dont need to hit record on the track, just the one at the top.

ok, when i render a midi clip into audio, the file is not in sync with the original midi clip. i have to go in and warp it to make it match. is this a issue with the soundcard or is live itself? and how can i fix it.
