Re: Katy Perry Mixer - "Ableton sounded terrible" (SoundonSound)

This may come off strange but sound quality isn't the only thing that makes a DAW "sound good." How well a program handles timing is a HUGE part of it too and in my experience Ableton crumbles to pieces in big sessions. Timing is all over the place - you've seen the thousands of threads co...

Re: Katy Perry Mixer - "Ableton sounded terrible" (SoundonSound)

Ever turn the SSL master bus compressor on/ off for a client? Watch their faces do this: :D :( :D :( If you're coming from SSL world, Lives mixer is going to seem very 'plain'. Personally, I like that... Live is more 'bare metal'. It takes more time to get a Live mix right because you have to build...

Re: Katy Perry Mixer - "Ableton sounded terrible" (SoundonSound)

Dave Pensado said something that has stuck with me forever - "It's better to sound new than to sound good." Ableton's got the new sound thing covered! Whether or not Ableton sounds better or worse is irrelevant really, it's not going to make you a better producer etc. When it comes down to...

Katy Perry Mixer - "Ableton sounded terrible" (SoundonSound)

Interesting to read a PROFESSIONAL completely bash Abletons sound quality. Mind you, this is not another guy on the forum, this is not a Ableton developer talking, this is a guy who actually makes hit records that millions of people consume... "Everyone says that all DAWs sound the same, but th...

Re: Scroll Wheel Zoom - For the love of GOD! Please.............

It's mind boggling some of the features these major DAWS ignore. It's not even just Ableton. You'd think these guys don't actually use the programs they develop or something.

Re: Vertical zoom in arrangement, customized colors, HEX count.

I hate to say it but Pro Tools has Ableton beat when it comes to the arrangement view features and workflow.

The fact that there's no sample accurate editing in the arrangement view shows you how serious the Ableton developers have taken it. And by serious I mean a joke.

Shift + Double Click = Zoom Out

Ok so where you have a highlighted region you can double click the ruler to zoom in - it's a great feature. However, if that region is still highlight and you want to back out right away you have to deselect the region and then double click the ruler to zoom out again. A simple solution for this wou...

Re: Waves, NI, Celemony, Sound Toys - Ableton Versions!

I don't know man, when done right, 3rd party apps can be kinda cool. Just like there's nothing wrong with a slick widescreen TV in an ultraminimalist zen-style apartment. I reckon Ableton would prefer keeping its UI unique for two reasons: - More selective about what 3rd parties it throws in under ...

Ableton - Now & The Future

Logic is now $199. This is cool but in my opinion it has nothing to do with Ableton and how they should price Live. Ableton has a niche that aids both Live and studio work. When's the last time you made money from a live gig using Pro Tools or Logic? A great company is made by it's ability to distin...

Re: Live 9 - Prediction

my guess is they have gone as far as they can with the Live/performance product and are building a Serious DAW to rival Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools as a new seperate product. Im guessing there will be a live 9 with maybe upgraded interface a couple of new featurs and not much else. And a seperate prod...

This is hands down the most innovative feature of 2011!

This is the type of breakthrough I've come to expect from Ableton, I'm shocked it came from Presonus first.

Sample Accurate Waveforms in Arrange View

I don't understand why there is a difference in how a waveform is displayed on the in the arrange vs clip view. The waveform representation in the arrangement view is nothing short of horrible but WHY? Is it a performance thing? Does rendering an accurate and professional waveform cause that much of...

Waves, NI, Celemony, Sound Toys - Ableton Versions!

IMO the native Ableton plugins have the most ergonomic UI's around. Ableton developers revolutionized this so much that it's almost a pain to use third party plugins with their annoying floating windows that take up precious real estate on our screens. Some of these (Waves in particular) are just fa...

Re: Maschine + Live Partnership

Wow, Ableton needs to hire you guys to develop the next controller. Hands down the most sophisticated, intuitive and advanced mapping I have ever seen.

You guys are making Akai, Novation, Eucon look like babies. Wow.

Maschine + Live Partnership

The Maschine controller and workflow is amazing. The Ableton workflow is amazing but they both do a lot of the same things so working them at the same time is often redundant. It would be great to have Ableton partner up with NI to make Maschines features integrate with Ableton in more robust ways. ...
