Key Detection?
Surprised that this isn't a fairly simple feature to add. Considering the harmony/melody extraction to MIDI, couldn't the software do a reasonable guesstimate of the Key?

Re: Places folders not updating
same issue here, you'd think this would be an easy fix. oh well. at least the folders eventually index...i have to use Ableton's search to find tracks on my external HD because catalina's search is broken, at least on my machine. ack!

"Command + click" to delete?
Why can you only do this in Session view on clips but once you've put those same clips into the arrangement can you no longer delete non-adjacent clips? Or am I missing something? For example, I've edited an acapella into about 20 diff short samples, now I want to arrange it in a track and it'd be s...

Re: Headphone / Speaker Bug
awesome workaround -- THANKS!! :) I found the solution: 1) open "Audio MIDI Setup" (search in Spotlight) 2) in bottom left click "+" and "Create Aggregate Device" 3) rename the device to "AudioSwitch" or whatever you like a 4) select the "External Headpho...

Re: Macbook Pro with Ableton runs extremely hot
Thank you SO much for the helpful replies. Really appreciated. I have some trouble shooting to do. I'll report back with my findings. Last night it occurred to me to see if Garageband caused the same issues and it also got nearly as hot just as quickly, so it's not only an Ableton thing. Ok, thanks ...

Re: Key command to start from beginning?
Yeah this has always bugged me. I started on Live 2.0 then took a break for 15 years and only got back into it recently. Shocked such a small thing hasn’t been addressed yet. It’s like they’re trolling user something.

Macbook Pro with Ableton runs extremely hot
My relatively new MacBook Pro (2019, 15”; latest Catalina update) gets extremely hot (75+ celcius) running Live after less than 30 minutes and this is with only a few tracks going and the CPU saying “10-25%” at most and running no other apps at all. (I’ve tried to replicate the problem using other a...

Re: New Macbook Pro won't recognize external synths
Hey thanks so much Tone Deft. I finally figured out the problem!
Turns out Yamaha now requires a driver to work with the latest Mac OS, Catalina.
Phew! Back to the studio. Thanks again everyone. I'm thrilled to finally have this figured out.

Re: New Macbook Pro won't recognize external synths
Thanks so much for the replies, and sorry for the late response on my part as I'm only seeing these now. The synths and soundcard do not show up in the Audio MIDI Setup box, unfortunately. Which is strange that they do show up under System Info in the USB 3.1 slots. I've checked again that all of th...

New Macbook Pro won't recognize external synths
I'm at a loss now...spent a lot of time on the phone with Applecare who were pretty helpless, so they suggested I contact Ableton. I emailed their tech support a couple days ago, but no response yet, so thought I'd try you kind people. :) I even bought new USB cables to connect my midi keyboard to t...

Re: Macbook Pro 2019 16 inch fan noise with Ableton
I have a 2019 (15") MBP and had similar issues very early on, but not even running Ableton. The fan would go crazy, the laptop would burn up heat and a fully charged battery would die in a little over an hour. After many calls to the "geniuses" at applecare I reinstalled everything an...

On a Mac, trying to convert .rar and .toast sample folders
I've recently downloaded some drum and loop samples. Those with .sit or .zip extensions usually open up just fine, but i'm having difficulty figuring out what to do with .rar, .ace, .cdi and .toast - anyone else on a Mac know how to open these? Hope this isn't too stupid of a question. Thanks for an...

Hi
Hello Gerhard, Yes, when the cursor goes over the clip loop marker it becomes the spinning Mac OS circle (has 2 black and 2 white triangles within this circle). The same thing happens in the Arrange view when attempting to increase the track height. This problem happens probably 80-90% of the time, ...
