A local dealer still has a boxed brand new Mac Pro 2.0 Dual Core.
I think this was one of, if not, the first Mac Pro model available.

I'm on a Dual 2.3 G5 which serves me well but the lack of PCIe slots is keeping me away from UAD2.
I can get this machines at a good price, but only if the machine ...

There is no comparison the OS X is uber for music producing!
Also you can build a EFIX machine like me for about 900-1000$ and you get better performance than a macbook pro!

Im runnning OS X 10.5.6...

Vista is full terror with the always comes up black screen and asking 2times what you already wanna do!
Other than that I just got the latest Windows 7 beta build 7000 I see no funkying difference!

1) what are the main drawbacks of vista compared to xp?

Both slow down in a few, also American&Russian hackers like to take over your processing power!

2) can anyone foresee any problems i might have with the combination of vista laptop, echoaudiofire2 and ableton.
