Re: [OT] #FF0000 looks warmer in MS Paint than in Photoshop

The Paint square definitely looks warmer. I know not everyone can tell, but for those of us who are blessed (cursed?) with so-called 'golden eyes', the output from a vintage color generator is always preferred. I find that the red has a more organic feel, whereas the Photoshop output is cold and lif...

Re: Any way to insert a compressor (or other effect) PRE-strip?

some advice, record at 24bit and set your input levels lower. shouldn't be a problem, your noise floor is so low, and your representation of dynamics so great that you don't have to set your input levels as hot as you do for analog or 16bit digital. .lm. Thanks for the tip, LM. I'll give it a shot.

Any way to insert a compressor (or other effect) PRE-strip?

Is there any way to insert a device before the audio from an external input actually hits its strip? E.g., to place a limiter or very gentle compressor on the input before recording the sample to avoid clipping. I used to do this on a creamware system (long gone) but that had a bit of a different pa...

Re: how to get that bass?

If you have reaktor THis https://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=userlibrary&type=0&ulbr=1&plview=detail&patchid=8837 There's the direct link to that synth pictured. First time I've touched the reaktor library in probably two years. This synth has some BEAST potential. thanks...

Re: How many 'warp points' do you use per track?

What he says is correct. If you're using straight up dance tracks that have never made a transition to analog back to digital (e.g., not your records that you just converted to wav but, perhaps, something you made yourself which you know is perfectly in tempo) then you might not need much of a warp ...

Re: trigger scenes without triggering all clips?

Hrm, at first this sounded kind of unnecessary, but having it as a "Not Triggered On Scene Trigger" would be pretty awesome. I too end up making either 1) multiple scenes, adding in the pieces I want to build up or 2) additional scenes that have only my added clips and then remove the stop...

APC40 only controls Simpler's LFO freq when in hz mode

Well, I own Sampler so it ends up that this isn't really that big of an issue for me, but ... In Simpler (which frequently I prefer because it's so lightweight) I can't get any change in the rate if it is set to synch to the clock. As soon as I set it over to Hz, I am able to sweep the frequency usi...

Re: well, apc40 > replacing 15 year old tape deck

You made a mistake, the holy Grail is APC + LP + M4L Well, yes I suppose that would be even better relatively, but I think the order is important. For me it would be APC then M4L then LP. I guess really LP is interesting in a totally different way than the APC. the APC is really a replacement for h...

Re: well, apc40 > replacing 15 year old tape deck

Thanks for the replies, guys. I've got an unpowered (because I lost/never needed the PS) hub around here somewhere that I'll try with first (Belkin 1 to 4) but if it doesn't, I'll pick up another. As far as other controllers, the only three things that will be plugged in are the APC40, a mouse and s...

well, apc40 > replacing 15 year old tape deck

Well, I just re-inherited an ancient landyacht (95 Lincoln Towncar) which is my daily driver. Great car, runs better than my previous with better gas mileage. But it has the stock radio/tape deck which doesn't even work (power problems, the ampllitude of the radio tuner goes up and down, mainly down...

Oh man, I remember seeing this as a kid. The transition between the party vibe and the mourning is so abrupt - but then that's how it is.

Re: Late to the game: Reaktor appreciation

Yeah, Reaktor is incredible ... I've had it for a few years, and honestly the only safe way I can use it is tweaking presets. I spend little enough time using what gear I have left, I can't be sucked further into that Vortex... (I did send everyone I knew the special deal last weekend... I ended up ...

Re: Santa's coming and you have one choice for a Midi Controller

I've got a UC-33, not the UC-33e version either (regrettably) and it is a pretty darned nice piece of work. If you can get one cheaply, it's worth a look. Programming it is kind of a pain imo, but finding one good patch and then just using midi learn as you need it is probably the best way forward. ...

Re: Live 8 asks to re-authorize

I'm also having this problem and have just sent a request to the Abletons to reset my install count after receiving the "limit reached" warning mail (!). Rather ridiculous, this should be patched immediately. Any idea if the current beta has the same issue?

Re: Song sound worse when i render it

yes but, using the same bit rate, it should be slightly better if you record it, than if you render it. Live rendering a 4 minute songs in a few seconds, makes me very suspicious about the computation used to render the file. You've got to upgrade that 286, indeed suspicious ;) It doesn't take a fa...
