Re: -18db digital = 0db analog

you guys are getting it all twisted. the lesson is simply to not cook your plug-ins with a hot signal. digital is fine but when it clips it sounds really bad. also there are times when the guy that designed the plug-in had to pick a sweet spot of performance in terms of volume, that spot won't be at...

Re: Is all this power helping us make better music?

Cool and impressive as the pad I eventually generated sounds, it is going to be hard as hell to make any actual music with it, it is so complicated and layered. And a lot of the stuff that was going on - noise generators, frequency shifters, whatnot, were actually making differences so small that m...

Re: What are your thoughts on surround music in movies?

funny how posts read different on a smart phone (earlier) than on the PC (now.) blah blah blah excuses... I'm not sure if I can make up my mind myself; a part of me thinks it's silly and unnecessary (probably the same part of me that finds stereo manageable and multi-channel intimidating). Roger Ebe...

Re: What are your thoughts on surround music in movies?

I'm not sure if I can make up my mind myself; a part of me thinks it's silly and unnecessary (probably the same part of me that finds stereo manageable and multi-channel intimidating). The other part of me thinks that in modern film soundtracks, the line between FX/sound design and music is quite b...

Re: What was your favorite gear purchase of 2013?

BAss Station 2. I am loving this thing. If I could only get something done with it rather than just sitting on the couch with headphones endlessly twiddling knobs for hours on end. record endless hours of twiddling the one of these days spend endless hours making drum beats to the Bass Station twid...

Re: Anyone gigging with an iPad and Amplitube?

line level output is line level output. I googled a bit on 'iPad audio out level' and didn't find anything but I'm lazy and don't have a horse in this race. I'm sure it's fine. if not, there are plenty of small amplifiers, compact mixers and whatnots to boost the level. if you have the gear, try it....

Re: Anyone gigging with an iPad and Amplitube?

live playing in bars? home recording?

nobody really gives a shit about sound quality in the bar. they only care if you're too loud, IMO.

Amplitube and all the sims are dependent on how good the user is at setting them up. it's a total mixed bag on those things, IMO it's about the user.

Re: What was your favorite gear purchase of 2013?

Beyer Dynamic DT770 Pro 80 Ohm headphones. wow. on the side a Electro Harmonix Signal Pad and a Morley Twin Mix ABY box are great helpers to get my guitar/amp setup tightened up. three weeks off work have been the best gift. time > money. outstanding weather around here with some amazing bike rides,...

Re: Looping clips on multiple discreet channels in tandem

this is in the manual, it only works on tracks that were recorded at the same time like you've done. in Arrange view put the Master track, the one you want to use to set the markers as the top track #1. ctrl-select the other tracks and leave them selected as you lay down markers in the Master track....

Re: Manual for Analog

or I'd just screw it up. ;) I love Operator, it's my go to synth. after that it's Sylenth. I never really fell in love with Analog. the interface is cramped and I just never spent much time with it. FWIW often when we learn a piece of gear for the first time the BEST happy accidents occur. record al...

Re: Manual for Analog

why do people who know nothing on a topic feel the need to teach others what they don't know? I have learned a lot about Analog in the last few weeks, so when I write about it, it will be things I'm very familiar with, so I will be teaching others about things I know very well (not teaching ...

I'll post on any thread I want to.

this is bullshit funken. ultimately you have no business teaching anyone anything. we know how well you know Live and music, you don't know much.

you're a sad, bored, lonely old man funken. log out, get some cats, move on with life.

Re: Manual for Analog

In time, I hope to create a short tutorial on Analog, for other users like me, who are new to synthesis and want to learn more. There is a lot of important information about the parameters that isn't published in the manual that people should know. Hopefully someone will find it useful :) /facepalm...
