Re: Akai Fire rotary controls

For reference, I have found another way of allocating the rotary controls (volume, pan, filter, resonance) which is much simpler. In MIDI Mapping Mode, hold down the ALT key then turn the control anticlockwise, cc controls are then allocated: 1/16, 1/17, 1/18, 1/19. This is on a Mac and I have no id...

Re: Akai Fire rotary controls

Thank you for your suggestion S4racen. When the rotary control is turned clockwise the mode is Relative (Signed Bit). Anticlockwise the mode is Relative (2's Comp.). I assume the control has to be turning when MIDI Map Mode is clicked so that a CC message is sent instead of Note On/Off.

Akai Fire rotary controls

Has anyone else noticed this behaviour when using Akai Fire with Ableton (I use Ableton 10 Standard)? When in MIDI Map Mode turning the volume control allocates an on/off note. To get round this I tried the following: Slowly turn the volume rotary control clockwise. While turning the volume control,...

A new digital label has been launched which will also be releasing CDs later in the year. The label specializes in abstract electronica/ambient and at present the downloads are free high quality mp3s. http://www.part2records.com At present I have 5 tracks there : Driftwood and the Sand Ep. You can get used to Live's arrangement view very easily. When I use Live as a DAW I only use the arrangement view, I don't start in session view at all. Also Live will handle more plug-ins that Logic because of the irritating (but maybe necessary?) audio unit validator. At the moment I have gone bac...

Although they're expensive the Nord Leads are really good, I have a Nord lead 3. I also have a Yamaha TX81z mentioned above which is good, especially if you take the time to learn to programme your own bass sounds.

In case anyone's interested there is an article in Sound on Sound (January 2007 issue that's just out) about mixing on headphones. They suggest a few but they are the expensive ones.

Basically I think it is except for two reasons :

1. You may be asked to do some normal music quickly in which case presets may save time.

2. Studying how other programmers work can be educational.

However I practically never us presets.

I agree with the above post, it is almost certainly the buffer size, for play back I sometimes use 1024 if there is a lot of processing.
Presumably you know the practice of low buffer sizes for recording, high buffer sizes for play back?

In my opinion warping definitely degrades the audio so I have it permanently turned off in the preferences. I suppose the general opinion is that warping is alright for live use but for studio use its not really suitable.

I notice that its your first post, welcome to the forum.

Try Audio Damge, my favourite is the Deverb but Reverence is also good.

I don't know for sure but I think people may use something like Melodyne for complicated pitch shifting. Also you could put the vocal track in arrangement view and put markers at the beginning of each word, cut the audio, and then you can change the tempo without altering the pitch or speed of indiv...

You won't regret it. If you put "mpc jj os" into google you will find the Japanese site with the new os. Don't forget the mpc is good for bass lines aswell, sample the notes you need from a synth and allocate to the pads and then you can get each note just right regarding volume filter etc.
