Re: Timothy Allen is a fucking genius...& a Bad Arse MoFo

Yeah, absolutely excellent instructor. Doesn't bore you, or go narrate too slow. His Live tips and tricks Grove 3 course is excellent, and the producing House drums with ableton is the best drums tut I have seen. He must be a bit of a sadist though, I'm working through his udemy course "Music ...

Re: Need tipps for suitable sample packages

Save your money, Ableton's drums are excellent. I have no doubt you achieve the result in the videos above with a bit of clever processing and well chosen sounds. Get tweaking.Build some racks with he samples you like. I made the mistake of wasting money on sample packs that I now don't bother with,...

Re: Happy with Live 9?

Yep, I'm happy with Live 9 glad I upgraded. The new browser doesn't bother me either. the only time I have had Live crash is when using some 3rd party plug-ins and that's rare. In fact I'm not going to buy any more plug ins until I know Live 9 inside out.I get the feeling I am only scratching the su...

Re: Looking back... At yourself.

Looking back I cringe on how seriously I took the music I was into. I think the worse period would have been about 1992/1993 when I really became obsessive about Detroit Techno and my utter contempt for progressive house or the speeded up breakbeat rave that was very popular in my area at the time. ...

Re: How to set up my studio?

I think by maxing them out he meant overloading -- getting to the point where the processor and RAM can't keep up with everything you're asking the computer to do (resulting in cracks, pops, audio dropouts). what he said :D sorry, should have made myself a bit more clear. The point I was trying to m...

Re: How to set up my studio?

Buy some quality RAM for your PC so it has 4 GB installed. It may not be necessary to drop a load on money on a new comp (unless you really want to then go for it :)) This is a very cheap upgrade and will help performance,do you find you are maxing out CPU and RAM with your live sets? I built my PC o...

Re: re-installing Live

It's a breeze I have just installed live on my second computer this morning. When you launch live for the first time it prompts you to authorize, log in to lie and click authorize now.If you are using firefox with some additional security (like the no-script plug-in) windows may prompt you to specif...

Re: About to spend £1000 - Help me out please - Mac or PC

If you want to save a few hundred quid, why not buy a Lenovo thinkpad. Lenovo ground their motherboards well so you don't get busts of dodgy interference (if you have ever plugged headphones into a cheap laptop and played with a DAW you will know what I mean). I spent just under £600 on thinkpad dir...

Re: rough "warehouse techno" sound

Massive fan of that sound myself. managed to catch quite a few the Surgeon's dj sets throughout the 90's, truly awesome. Anyway, You may want to check this thread here: http://www.mnml.nl/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=65500 where there quite a bit of discussion on this subject. On a side note Lovi...
