Re: MIDI recognized but not useable

I can, depending on my MIDI settings. If I enable them, then yes I can map it to things, including launch clips. However there is always latency here, whereas the actual response of the MIDI signal has no latency. I'm trying to use it as a virtual snare, basically, obviously with aims to use the x a...

Re: MIDI recognized but not useable

Sorry what I'm trying to say is instrument or no instrument, the MIDI track I've set to the KP3 responds with a singular dot at the bottom of its meter - ie it recognizes an input but, regardless of whats in the track, FX or instrument-wise, that input is unusable beyond demonstrating it is recogniz...

MIDI recognized but not useable

Hi all, hope you can help me. I'm running my kp3 into ableton. My midi track has it's input set to KP3 in, and Channel 1 (Channel 1 being the only one that recognizes it). I have no FX or anything in the channel yet. I press the KP3 and instantly get a 1 out of the 14 dots on the meter flashing up -...

Re: Ableton is lacking some basic concepts

If you're using ableton as Cubase, it is likely you are just using the wrong tool for the job. Ableton is designed to be primarily a Live thing....ableton 'Live' and all...it can do everything else, maybe not as slickly or straight forward but it totally holds it own in all other departments. But it...

Re: Joysticks??

Hey thanks for getting back to me chapelier fou! Unfortunately my skills with max are pretty non-existent, so writing my own devices I believe is not going to be the solution. The programs I'm refering to are just wahtever pops up on google really - theres more options, but I'm not a big fan of just...

Joysticks??

Anyone hooked a joystick up to ableton? Thought it could be a fun hands on addition to my set up, going for a bit of an Author & Punisher vibe (except I'm not that genius, so joystick'll have to do), but so far I can only find Joy2Key which equate a direction for a single key, meaning slight tilt or...

Any work around to clearing MIDI clips

Hi all, any help would be really appreciated. I am trying to have a midi clip which I can play into, and also wipe clear of midi notes at the press of a button. It has automation and is set to being 1/8th note, so just delete+create new, won't give me what I want, on the fly. Can't use keyboard and ...

Effecting one of many effects with a controller

Hello everyone, A very long time ago (maybe ten years?) I watched a video that I could barely follow at the time due to poor knowledge of ableton, but keep thinking about how useful it would be now, but I can't find it! It showed how to map numerous parameters of effects and whatever to a single con...

Re: Computer midi ports

Hey thanks for the reply! Really appreciated, we've got our album launch on Saturday night - and I was using an x-y pad to record the album on the Samson Conspiracy, which was great except it broke really quick as its pretty cheap, and haven't had the money to replace it, or to keep buying "disposab...

Computer midi ports

Hey all was hoping for a bit of help. I've just bought a kaosspad, but my computer won't find it in the kp3 editor. Google shows lots of similar problems, but all the solutions tell me it has to be in ports below 10 and to change this go to my control panel. Where??? I can't find midi mentioned once...

Link issues

Re: Suggestions on midi keyboards?

How much do you want to spend? We recently bought our keyboard player the Alesis V61 (http://www.thediscdjstore.com/alesis-v61-usb-midi-keyboard.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwqvvLBRDIARIsAMYuvBFDJsD4vfW_DMtDDBlcMHUbjxRl5kgV025L1cmP9p2th9TufB4aBkAaAjqcEALw_wcB) works fine with ableton, but haven't tried with ma...

Re: Re-routing drum midi using a drum rack?

I've done quite a bit of specific midi routing for drums, and its usually just really time consuming but not crazy hard or anything. I'd use a scale effect, or maybe a bunch of them in different chains, and switch chain selection with the same button you switch drumkits. Doing it note by note with m...

Re: Mic won't work in ableton

Try ASIO4ALL Yur2Die4...your advice is to die for...sorry ;) Asio4All did it. It's a program I've always had laying around, but only ever used as an improvement on my internal soundcard when I was trouble shooting or whatever, but never really gave it a second thought. Amazing! Just to clarify thou...
