Sample rate for live performance

I know, this topic has been discussed to death.. and it feels like I've read every topic on the planet covering sample rate, but I haven't found a conclusive answer within the context of live performance.. so please bare with me :) When I produce music I work with a 96000 sample rate. I do this beca...

That's a 909 kick with some saturation.

Re: is the browser 'sound menu' too restrictive or bad organised

You can copy in whichever native preset you'd like. I personally like to make my own and not have things cluttered by adding in all of Ableton's native presets, but you could just copy those over if you'd like that. But you can copy multiple presets at the same time, so it's not a one by one effort.

Re: is the browser 'sound menu' too restrictive or bad organised

I found myself overwhelmed and I've adopted a minimalist/ less-is-more(-creative) mindset. This is how I've organized my personal library. Each plugin (native/third party) needs to have has a good reason to be there. This is my way of "hiding" some of Abletons native options as well: http...

Re: EDM kicks

I don't like those particular kicks myself, but I believe everyone and their grandmothers use Sonic Academy Kick 2 for this. The first kick you're presented with when you load up the plugin is a typical punchy, hard-hitting EDM-style kick. Edit: I don't want to give anyone the impression that you ne...

Re: Drum Sample Library suggestions?

This might be an open door, but have you checked out Elektron's sample packs? https://www.elektron.se/soundpacks/ I looked into them for the Digitakt that I thought I needed and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this pack: https://www.elektron.se/soundpacks/2323/ That pack appears to be co-...

Re: Truths about perceived quality in audio interfaces for ITB

That's a great summary :D Thanks for contributing everyone. I think this thread is a nice source of information for others who might not understand the technical nuances and want to understand better if they are spending money wisely. (btw, it doesn't really matter but I wasn't confused about whethe...

Re: Truths about perceived quality in audio interfaces for ITB

this kind of interminable semantic nitpicking is really tedious. i for one have not missed it one bit. I work with a team of software engineers so I've gotten used to it to some extend, but I hear you  Jokes aside, these guys/gals are making valid points because making sure that we're talking ...

Re: Panning Mono reverbs?

You're welcome. (Making it mono before the reverb sends the guitar's mono signal through the reverb, so the result is an effected mono signal with a stereo reverb. Making it mono after the reverb sends the guitar's stereo signal through the reverb, so the result is an effected stereo signal with a s...

Re: Panning Mono reverbs?

Yes, that would be totally fine. You could also leave it stereo and pan it, but you are the judge of what sounds best. There is no right or wrong. Another technique that I like gives you the advantage of having both the dry signal and the wet reverb signal on the same channel. In my brain this kind ...

Re: Something is eating my CPU and it's impossible to work

With that kind of computer I would be surprised as well. Then again, you do use some heavy duty 3rd party plugins. Does it happen when using an audio card, or without it as well? I'm not a software specialist (there are quite a few on this forum who know these kinds of things) but my approach would ...

Re: Truths about perceived quality in audio interfaces for ITB

Thanks everyone. Some good points were raised and I hear all of them. The bottom line seems to be ( = what I was trying to figure out mostly) that producers on a budget who stay ITB and have no other specific needs can confidently spend money on (or stick with) a brand that is not RME, Universal Aud...
