one very nice trick to create good breaks is to write several 4 bar loops(or whatever time scale you work in) and to have em on one drum track mapped to different keyboard keys/pads and have launch quantization set to 1/8 (unless you work in a different time scale) and trigger them in different ways...

one way I use it is if you have a sound and it's too loud at some point and ends up clipping the whole track, I look at it and try to eq out the loudest frequency provided it's not the critical one to the sound itself... usually a lot of sounds have a TON of extra frequencies that aren't even needed...

it makes no sence to render and play with loops, it will give you many disadvantages, first of all, you can't easilly edit it... second of all the best part about live pa in ableton is the ability to manipulate any instrument on the go at your desire.... third goes hand in hand with second, you want...
