Re: X-Fi Sound Card, Win7 and Ableton Live - one word - DON'T!

Since I got my M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro (external), I have no more issues whatsoever! Well.. it gets a little picky when Live is open and something else using sound is also open, but I can fix that by closing the other thing, usually. I recommend this card.

Re: X-Fi Sound Card, Win7 and Ableton Live - one word - DON'T!

Gab - thanks so much for sharing that detailed explanation about the X-Fi and how you get it to work! (I am bookmarking your post for future reference.) I must admit that when I bought this card (last July), I knew it was aimed at gamers but, as in the past when I've bought Creative cards, I knew it...

X-Fi Sound Card, Win7 and Ableton Live - one word - DON'T!

Hello! I have solved multiple problems by disabling my X-Fi sound card and going back to my onboard Microsoft HD card. The questions I have posted in the forums here have often confused those trying to help me, and now I understand why! So I would like to help others now who may run into these same ...

Re: Tempo tap recorded with audio?

Thanks.. but presently my card has adequate ASIO drivers.. again, that isn't the problem. I only mentioned it because once I go back to Microsoft HD card, I will *need* ASIO to replace that which I have right now (but won't then). Thanks for trying.

Re: Tempo tap recorded with audio?

I am using headphones. Tried it again last night. Looked on the 'net for any tutorials on how to record vocals, recording vocals or audio while using metronome, etc. I did fine a couple, and it appears I have everything routed properly (track 1 is my mic, it is set to "1" (other choice wou...

Re: Tempo tap recorded with audio?

I'm having the same problem, and having no luck finding an easy answer anywhere on the Internet. I too am trying to record a vocal in time with the metronome, and the metronome ticks record onto my mic track. I think for newbies or semi-newbies to Live it would help just to have a basic "here's...

Re: SF2 - is there a way to use it in Live (besides Sampler)?

No, the VST shows up okay - it's just that I don't know what to do with it once it's in there. I can't pull the SF2s into it, and if I try, Live pops up and tells me I need Sampler. :( However, I did get one to work: DSK SF2. Thanks so much for that suggestion! I just need to work with it a bit, but...

Re: SF2 - is there a way to use it in Live (besides Sampler)?

Thanks very much. After posting this question I found SFZ Player as a possibility, but again, no idea how to get it to work with Live (I've tried).

I will try these suggestions and report back. Thanks again.

SF2 - is there a way to use it in Live (besides Sampler)?

At the moment I am using Live 8.2.7. I have hundreds of old SF2s I would like to open/import somehow (especially for drum kits), and I see references to Sampler being able to import them. I don't have Sampler in my version of Live. Is there another way to use SF2s in Live? Any help appreciated. Than...

Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

No problem, bro. I use a MOTU 828mkII, firewire. 10 analog inputs, plus I run an 8channel Mic pre into it via ADAT, which gives me 18 total inputs. I've been very happy with it. By the way, I'm a woman. (This is where you go, oh, *that* explains a lot!) I'd never need anything that elaborate...

Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

I read back through this thread and realize that you did mention this before (about input monitoring). After exploring all modes of the Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty, I think I'm going to find out what others are using and switch. I have an onboard HD card that would solve this problem, but it doesn't have...

Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

Oh, all righty then! lol Guess what? Your very simple solution should work. But it isn't. I'm starting to think it's the sound card itself. I have microphone playback muted, I have "listen" unchecked, and I'm still hearing the mic. Well, you did what you could, I think. My next card will n...

Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

Well... Okay, I was able to listen to the test project you sent. I noticed that track 1's input was set to "auto" rather than "in". (Couldn't tell that that makes any difference, though.) Track 2 Audio To is set to "master" rather than to track 1, but I also can't tell ...

Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

Hey, Samaritan. Thanks for the files. I installed your live pack, and it lets me see it, but it immediately gave me an error as I don't have that synth installed in my Live. So it said I couldn't save or import. No problem since this is a test to get the vocoder right. But after I got that error, it...
