Get Nativekontrol's LPC and don't look back. It has step sequencers for both drums and melodies, plus a whole lot more. On top of that you don't need M4L.

I haven't had any problems using my padkontrol with Windows 7(32-bit). Sounds like you don't have the drivers properly installed. Hey...if anyone wants an styleflip overlay for LPC like mine. I asked and they said you can order a blank skin and just reference my order number 3587 and get the same one. It's a little pricey at $20-30, but it makes LPC much easier to use.
