I, too, have Live 5, and I have a couple setups where keyboard keys are mapped to Send knobs... works pretty well. Tap the key once turns the send all the way up (or to whatever max vaule you set), tap it again turns it back down (to whatever min value you have set).

Shift+Tab (on the Mac, probably the same on the PC) will also filp the bottom panel between Clip View (the MIDI notes) and Track View (which shows the Impulse instrument / where you change drum sounds).

If you just buy the normal Trigger Finger then yes, it just comes with Live Lite. However, they also sell a bundle with the full version of Live 5.
