Re: How do I freeze a track that has side chain compression on?

djgroovy wrote:A quick trick i use is this: temporarily put your sidechain compressor in another track.
Now freeze and flatten the track. Drop the compressor back in.
This is what I do, it's annoying routing the track to an audio and then record in my opinion.

Something I did one day bored

This is made with everything ableton. I only used one VST, The Pro-Q and that was for mastering. See, If I could use VSTs this would've sounded amazing. maybe I'm just bad at it, but tell me what you think and link if you've done the same. I'd like to hear other peoples work only using ableton stuff...

It's fun, and new.

Re: 3 Major things Ableton should have

You can kinda do the snap.

Highlight the boxes and move down, I know it'd not work flow but it works.

I do agree tho, with all you say.

Re: Music Theory?

Music theory is great for harmonizing and creating a flow... But it's just an idea, it's not what you're supposed to do. As I'm constantly told. My opinion, it's great guidelines that can be bent and manipulated. But no matter what genre you're in, arrangement is key. arrangment is like laying out c...

Re: Hard Drive Speed

I'm debating whether to opt for a 256GB Internal Flash Drive for IMAc rather than a 1TB 7200RPM, and use an external Harddrive for all of my sounds. Does the speed of the External drive have any impact on performance? If you use audio on the harddrive or flash the speed matters. When you get that D...

Re: Vocal sync

Put the correct BPM in, Warp it and do very slight adjustments to get he waves to better sync up. I like to do it every beat that I warp it but sometimes you dont need to.

I don't know of any plug-ins, but that technique works for me.

Re: Loudness near others - Tips on getting a living space.

I've rented for 5 years, and have gotten a noise violation at every single place. Now I'm in a town home, with old people next to me and I gotta stop making music at 10 so they can't call in the complaint. My advice, get a house (or rent) and have your studio in the center of the house as much as po...

Re: Sound Proofing for voice-over work

You could tile the floor, but yeah I don't see this as a good idea. You're gonna be putting way to much into something that MIGHT work. You can record things in an open room with some foam on the wall.. The key to voice recording is reflections and your mic choice. I find a closet full of cloths to ...

I usually just use the meter on Ableton master. (I extend it up)

sometimes I put the Waves PAZ Analyzer on to check to see if I'm phasing or over boosting a certain frequency.

Re: when bass sounds out of tune

There could be multiple things. Are you in the right root key? Are you cutting off the the right frequencies for the bass and kick?? When you EQ your bassline does it look almost like a sine wave? You shouldn't be boosting and tipping up much. I usually try and do very little notching and boosting. ...

Mastering, making it -3db

Do you guys mix it down? or just drag the level down on the master to make it at -3db?

In the past I've mixed it down, but I dont even think it really matters.

Thoughts? Opinions?
