Robert Henke has built a max4live patch which allows you to send MIDI CCs from macro knobs.

Re: Ableton Live Melodic Step Sequencing

Is there a M4L device or something else that offers a variation on the Melodic Step Sequencing from the one provided in Ableton Live 9.1? I would like for it to work exactly like the drum rack sequencing but instead of drum pads in the left lower quadrant, it would be a 4x4 representation of the no...

Re: kick layering questions

Look up differences between linear phase and minimum phase EQs. Try using linear phase eqs for sub cuts, as these will not alter the phase relationships in your kick. A rule of thumb test I use is when a track is fully mastered, the sub frequencies should be kicking somewhere in the range of -18 to ...

Re: Editing multiple MIDI Clips data in one Clip window.

I will throw in my vote for this as well. Just tried out this functionality in Bitwig, and oh MAN does it make writing progressions and melodies easier. Like holy crap it's a big change...

Is this possible: Disable MIDI Remote Script in real time?

Is it possible to either do this from Max4Live, or embed this functionality into a remote script? My idea is to be able to send a control message from a MIDI device which would enable or disable that controller's 'native' control script over live.

View Routing Dependencies as a List in File/Project Manager

It would be super helpful for me when going back to old projects to be able to quickly view in a quick list all the routing dependencies. ie. A list of which tracks have sidechains, and which ones are being used as sidechain "keys" or sources. This is because in some cases I want to go bac...

Re: Sampler LFO Lock?

Sorry to pull this one out of the archives... but hey what the heck? I always thought Sampler's LFO synced to the grid when it was set to beat divisions. ie. every time you press play from 0:00:00 the LFO will retrigger, staying in sync with the timeline. But this is not the case it seems! The LFO r...

Re: Live 9 Compressor crackling with short attack times

Yeah using 8's compressor is crackle free... but I'm just curious to know why 9's compressor crackles.

This is probably a question that can only be answered through a 6 month course in coding for audio processing... :|

Re: Ok, Live 9, what you like/dislike?

Shameless self promotion in progress; I blogged about it (link). Basically I think Live 9 (Suite) is a big improvement over Live 8 on several aspects. For example the new workflow where all your own setups won't find their way into the library but your user library instead, this is bound to make yo...

Live 9 Compressor crackling with short attack times

This is not about the Glue, but the standard Compressor. An instance of Ableton 9's Compressor with an attack time of 0.01, in Peak mode, I get audible crackling on the processed transients. An instance of Ableton 8's Compressor with an attack time of 0.01 in Peak mode, FF1 Model, does not have this...

Re: Cannot save Live Clips by dragging and dropping into browser

Alright, so it looks like you can only drag clips to a "Places" folder. This is a strange limitation. Also it seems that folders within the Ableton Library cannot be "Places". I guess it is not difficult to create a new desktop folder for my user created clips, but just seems str...

Cannot save Live Clips by dragging and dropping into browser

This is strange, why in Ableton 9 am I not able to drag a clip over to the browser window to save the clip? I usually would drag them into a special folder I have within the Ableton Library "Clips" folder called "My Clips", but now when I drag the clip over there I see a "no...
