Re: Windows: possible to lock drive letters to ext. devices?

Actually, they can still sometimes switch letters...I have experienced this as well. It happens when you are inconsistent in the way you connect your drives...ie, I don't connect one of my drives today, but I install/use another usb device: this can screw it up. Try using high letters (v, w, x, etc)...

Haven't you guys done comping with multiple takes before? Session view is NOT ideal for this as yes, you can put each take in a seperate clip if you enable each clip to record on each pass, but that's kind of a PIA isn't it, and then how are you supposed to comp easily. Yes, you can then copy clips,...

Still no cycle record??????Live 8???? PLEASE...

Been checking out Live 8. Looks absolutely stellar! So many of the ongoing peeves have been addressed...mad props to the Abes on this one!! HOWEVER... It still appears that they have not introduced any functional type of cycle recording! Am I simply overlooking this, or is it, in fact, still missing...

I think my experience is different from many users here. My first DAW was Ableton, and only recently have I started using Cubase. I really LOVE the workflow for composition in Live. It is the BEST for sketching out ideas and putting together creative meanderings. Also, I think if you are a solo arti...

routing question: using external micpre as a send

So.... I just picked up a SWEET Tube channel strip (Pendulum), and I want to be able to use it as a send when recording other tracks. Here is the scenario: Machinedrum coming in from soundcard audio in 3/4 Set this track to record arm so I can hear the signal. Put track out to sends only, turn send ...

Just to let you know...I have a Mint condition Desktop Evolver I am selling for $350.00. I LOVE THIS SYNTH! I am selling it to buy a polyevolver! It is listed on Houston Craigslist, and will be going on Ebay this weekend. I have 100% positive feedback. Just thought you'd like to know... Regardless, ...

Personally, I feel that everyone's money would be much better spent on a used Evolver. It would come out costing about the same, but the Evolver is, IMO, WAY cooler. It uses the same analog oscillators and analog filters as the Prophet and Mo Pho, but adds 2 digital oscillators with user defined wav...

Yeah man...THAT is the way to go. Basically, you buy a SATA drive for a desktop computer...I have WD 750gb caviars...seriously badass and VERY fast. So, then shell out about $35 for an enclosure...I use vantech and they are well regarded, cheap, and work well. You stuf the hard drive into the enclos...

Nebulae, Glad you decided to go the hardware way! It always puzzles me that people will throw more money around looking for software that sounds, basically, more analogue. I mean, that's really what you were asking wasn't it? Terms like warmth. organic, etc. are all really trying to capture the esse...

Roach, Damn...that was a nice set-up. I have an Andromeda and LOVE IT! I really can't stand the sound of most soft synths now that I have it! Have you ever played on a REAL MS-20! If you dig that sound, you should TOTALLY get one! My friend has one and that thing just SHREDS paint off the walls. NO ...

I love the myth that somehow you can hear music better or appreciate it better when on drugs. You know how many PROFESSIONAL mixers and mastering engineers do drugs before they mix down an album...ZERO!!! One of the first things EVERY SINGLE decent book on mixing says is to NEVER mix under the influ...

Totally! This is actually the combo I run, and I am surprised more people do not do it, seeing as a used BCF is $100. Motorized faders are KEY when using the mixer...it's kind of pointless otherwise (IMO). So, you want to set the BCF to control all mixer functions. There are a couple of ways to do t...
