Midi recording in Ableton

Can some one give me a link to some tutorials on recording midi in ableton. Am coming from logic and am used to cycle mode etc, but the way the midi clips in ableton work is really firing me a wobbler. Say I just want the midi to be recorded to fit in the current loop and to for new notes to replace...

Its just a delay line where the cursor just runs across it smooth. With really short times its litterly a phaser. Try Fab filters timeless ;)
Come to think of it, you can do alot more interesting stuff with timeless.
