Re: Live saturator/overdrive/tube vs third party

Honestly, I actually find I'm often opting for the punch Ableton's Saturator over a lot of expensive plugs like Saturn and Decapitator. Don't get me wrong, I use Saturn and Decapitator at lot - mainly to produce very pronounced sound shaping for a few key sounds in a track and for bus processing, bu...

But I did not get that message. It just installed , quick as a snake.
Thanks dude, but if the one in the location has a 'newer name', would that suggest it's already there!?

Re: The nine point two thread

I get this message when I go to install (on mac):

"A newer item named “Ableton Live 9 Suite” already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the older one you’re moving?"

Do I say yes?? Don't want to mess up any existing projects!

Moving from 32 to 64bit

Hi all, Excuse my under par tech knowledge here. I know my way around Ableton like a whiz, but general computer tasks tend to escape me sometimes. I'm using a 32bit version of Live and I figure that I'll be able to have less CPU straining issues if I run the 64bit version. Does this means I'll need ...

Re: Ableton DJs: do you set the levels of your songs?

I would assign 2 knobs on a controller to act as trim pots, like on a dj mixer. Use a utility device for this. That way you have your channel faders to move up and down relative to each other rather than having to remember that one track is way louder / quieter. It's crap when you finish a blend and...

Re: Automap style control of soft synths using Sub Phatty

Just a note for anyone doing searches in the future, I saved a midi learn config (simply by doing midi learn, mapping the knobs and pluign parameters then saving) and it works brilliantly with the sub phatty. There have a been a couple of times it hasn't loaded as default for some reason but with pl...

Re: Automap style control of soft synths using Sub Phatty

OK, here's a question then: does this work with Ableton's native devices? Like, I'd LOVE to buy a Novation Zero and dedicate it totally to Operator, but it *has* to just remember the mappings I make once, no matter which instance of Operator I select. I would definitely punch a baby for this functi...

Consult the synth manual to see if there is a midi learn function.
But doesn't this hard map those controls (one one instance) to that knob?

Automap style control of soft synths using Sub Phatty

Hi guys, I've had a good search around and can't see anything that answers this - hope you can help. I want to use my Sub Phatty to control some common parameters of other favourite soft synths. It has MIDI capability and lovely design / layout, so it's perfect. Specifically, I do not want to use cm...

Re: Ableton Live 10

Whilst a lot of people use it in Live situations, I think we can all agree that the vast majority of users are production focussed. Getting ideas down quickly, experimenting with different ideas / jamming, and then being able to produce it into a finished product. I'd love to see even more live per...

Re: Ableton Live 10

I'm firmly in the Live is a performance Sampler on steroids camp. At least that's what it started out being, now it's a simple DAW as well, and every year everyone asks for more DAW features. I would like more Automap and MainStage style features, easier ways to actually play live with songs, not j...

make the Volume and Pan automation snap horizontally to Zero (see adobe audition clip envelopes; very useful and natural feeling)

Re: Buss & Master processing

Yeah, I just find that I focus on purely EQ for each channel now (both digital subtractive and analogue boosts) as I know the processing is already going on in the background... helps me focus I suppose. I also like that you don't get any surprises at the end like if you then decided to slam on some...
