Re: Shameless self-promotion aside...
changing your banner every day with daily "tips" is getting really annoying to keep blocking over & over.. Very annoying indeed. You can block his whole folder with Adblock Plus instead of doing it again and again for every single image. If you right-click on the spam and chose to blo...

Re: Has this happened too you?
A certain feeling or vibe that you have when making music is not permanent. So one way to catch it is to be really fast and record all the important parts of the song before it is gone. If I take too long, usually when losing time on details, the doubts get more and more. I once read a good descript...

Re: Section 7.4.2 Removing Clip Stop Buttons
I use this function on spaces where there is NO clip, so if I launch this scene, the clip from the previous scene continues playback and doesn't get stopped by the empty slot.

Re: Démo #1 / Créer des rythmes avec PUSH
push "only" reflects the state of the liveset. that means that when you commit a groove on a clip, that moves notes ALSO on the push because it moves notes in the liveset. so yes, the push displays notes freshly moved. I didn't show this (yet) but you can also change the size of the grid ...

Re: Démo #1 / Créer des rythmes avec PUSH
Bonjour Julien, Thank you for the wonderful video. It is making some things more clear for me now and helps with the decision of getting Push soon. Do you still have it at home? Can you check something for me? I'm wondering how the use of groove templates in a clip affects the drums in the step sequ...

Re: How To Share An Ableton Instrument I Create?
Create a new empty session, drag the instrument to a track within this session, do a "safe all". The instrument and all related samples will be part of this session and the whole thing can be given away.

Re: Detune and transpose functions
1 semitone (in the transpose box) is made of 100 cent (in the detune box). So if your value is set to 0 semitones 0 cent and you add 49 cent to it, you will see 0 semitones 49 cent. If you would add more than 50 cent to 0 s 0 c, you will have made more than half the way to the next semitone above al...

Re: RTSA/TDM
This is the format for plug-ins that Pro Tools is using. Like VST or Audio Unit, but Pro Tools can't handle these. It has its own type of plug-ins: RTAS for native ones and TDM for stuff that is calculated on the external DSPs instead of using the computer's CPU.

Re: Coloring sound with mutiple conventions
Quite often, losing definition, bass and punch in a way that sounds pleasant to you is all that "colouring" is about. But then there is the famous interview with Ethan Whiner, where he claims that there is hardly any difference between the raw files and the ones that have been sent through...

Re: Hiding automation lanes
Thank you guys! You are right. I was always using a very small track height and seeing only one box. I never noticed that there are actually two of these and Ableton Live is picking one to show me. It's such a simple solution that I couldn't even read about it in the manual and I have spent a long t...

Re: Hiding automation lanes
My Live version is in German, so when you see "Keine" in the list on the pictures, it might be labeled "no automation" or maybe "none" in the English version. On the first two pictures everything is alright. On the third picture it is missing on the top of the list. Pic...

Hiding automation lanes
When automation lanes are visible on top of the clips in arrangement view I can open the dropdown menue of each track and choose which parameter's automation is visible. Or I can pick "no automation" to just see the clips. Quite often the option "no automation" is missing in this...

Re: Converting tracks to mono - Utility with width set to 0%?
Yes Florian, some of my music is intended for the club (one day!) so thank you for your mono-rack! :D As a guideline, is there a certain frequency under which everything should be mono? (I read 300hz somewhere) Keeping the elements that deliver most of the energy mono below 250 Hz is enough. It is ...

Re: Converting tracks to mono - Utility with width set to 0%?
It is important to a certain extent if your tunes will be cut on vinyl or played in a club. A lot of info on the web as the previous posters mentioned. I made a rack for this in Ableton Live. One knob, easy to use. Everything below the shown frequency will be mono, everything above it stays as it wa...
