Re: Live 12 won't launch
The AVX2 thing is a Windows thing. As long as your mac can run Big Sur, it'll run L12. Can't see how it could be a Windows thing. AVX2 is an extension to the instruction set of your CPU, and not anything defined or definable in software, not without incurring the likely-massive performance penaltie...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
To people who point out that Ableton must have known before launch.... If they did, then: (a) They would have signalled more clearly on the Purchase page re. System Requirements. They did not. They have now changed that. (b) They have had Live 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 running on my computers since 2008. ...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
At the end of the day, there should be zero code in the Ableton sourcebase that directly depends on AVX2 instruction set. It's a flag you pass to the compiler, whether to bind to those lowest-level instructions or not. Yes there would then be two builds of Ableton Live 12, for those of us with AVX a...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
I share people's anger. As others have said, I would not have spent money on this upgrade if it was clear that my system was rendered incompatible due to these changes. What's worse is that there is no dialog presented saying "Sorry buddy, this CPU doesn't cut the mustard". I spent hours t...

Re: M4L Stability
Hi, thanks Rory. From what I understand, the Max7 Runtime emits better crashdump detail, in the event of crashes. But in my case with the glitching, I am not crashing. So in this instance, yes I'll generate a Status Report and get it to your Support address. For me, it doesn't appear to matter what ...

Re: M4L Stability
Hi, early indications are good here too. Loaded Sonic Faction Sickness (big sample-based m4l synth), Time and Timbre, and Convolution Reverb Pro. No crashes. Things definitely had improved with Max 7.0.3, but this feels better again... I still get Stuttering / Glitching behaviour when multiple m4l d...

Re: M4L Stability
Hi Reimund, you have a couple of options here... You can look at what patches were applied during the last round of Windows Updates. If you're on Win7, go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update > View update history. If you want to back out any update, go here: Control Panel > Progr...

Re: M4L Stability
Just a half hour tonight with Live 9.1.7 and Max 7.0.2 on win7 (32-bit), but all worked well. J74 Progressive, Sonic Faction Pulsator synth (memory hungry sample-based synth), and Convolution Reverb Pro, all loaded and played fine. LiquidRhythm needs work to get it to work with Max 7. WaveDNA have g...

Re: M4L Stability
Yep, I use 7.0.2 max Runtime with live 9.2.x beta.
Didn't realise I could use it with 9.1.8 until Fab mentioned it above.

Re: M4L Stability
Edit: Fabrizio, you just beat me to the punch re. workarounds... Cannot say that you are wrong in any way there Daniel. There is a significant issue with M4L, especially on Windows. The three 'workarounds' that improve stability for me (but do NOT fix the inherent stability problem): - Set your Audi...

Re: M4L Stability
Will Ableton take notice and act on this issue if they receive bad vibes on their user forum, hosted on their own ableton.com site?
If yes, then rant away....

Re: M4L Stability
Yeah, these kinds of issue, such things as this do appear to cause instability for me too. I've removed all M4L devices from my default set as a result... I've aggressively disabled a lot of Windows features - from a Windows perspective, I run a tight ship. And before I start Ableton, I kill yet mor...

Re: M4L Stability
Thanks for replying Angstrom. basically "we know about these issues but don't know why it does this" OK Ableton, time to roll up your sleeves and figure out why! While things like Tuner devices and a fix for Push's Aftertouch are important, I'd swap a bunch of features for a stable platfor...
