Great blog idea Hoffman! Interesting to read. I am currently doing exactly the same thing as you - I am building my Live template in conjunction with my hardware, so that I can map out all controls in a sensible way and keep that as my track building template as well as performance setup. Once I set...

I remember trying it once and thinking the sound was great but the GUI bugged me. I hated not being able to scroll with trackpad/mousewheel, and I don't think I could resize the window either. I wonder if someone could use the ableton coupon at the same time as getting the reaktor discount. It's 199...

Kontakt 3 or phatmatik pro make recycle pretty redundant. But Live 7, no. No beat detection? So you have to manually set each slice. Can't preview the loop chopped up in it's regular groove either. Setting the warp markers kills the groove until you send it to a rack. So unless you're using simple l...

Sounds like one of two things to me: either a patch in a multi-osc synth, where some osc are just standard square, saw etc, and one uses sample(s) which loop and keytrack as mentioned. or a patch in a nulti-osc synth where the loop sound is actually an oscillator with an lfo that responds to keytrac...

Re: I'm returning the Novation Nocturn

I preorderd this thing months ago and I'm a bit disappointed. What good is automap if the knob moves won't be recorded on Live. I might as well put the money towards the Bitstream 3x... I might have kept it if there was an led display of which page number I was on. This is an ableton problem, not n...

It is a great synth. I use it in Live all the time, works great, no problems, light on CPU. Very clean, bright sounds. I don't know if that's what you like, but works well for me. I just upgraded to Komplete Synth from NI, so I have an extra copy. PM if you would like to pick it up for a discounted...

ummm, i was just kidding. I just organized my VST folder on my MacBook. I guess it's possible I actually totally use what dubya mentioned. Pre made rack with my fav plugs already tucked inside, and macros doing most of the work. You can also change the layout visually of the rack so if you need to ...

It's silly that macs don't let you organize your plug-ins. What I've started doing to better organize things is just rack every instrument/effect individually and then store them in Live's browser under sensible headings. Also it's nice to have the macros mapped to the plug-ins main settings like vo...

It was really only after going back and listening again that I could pick out a slightly dirtier (analogish) quality to the real 303's. I'm sure a bit of mild saturator over ABL could make it almost identical.

Heavily compressed, loud, but few transients and subtle dynamics. And with even more retro plug-ins, like the "cd quality plug-in", which gives everything that old retro 16 bit warmth, or the 128k mp3 modeler, for that mp3 grit. I'm also seeing ethereal pads, cutting leads, fat basses and ...

Great synth, but yes, be warned. Use it monophonically, and it'll take a quarter or more of the resources of your computer, on Eco mode. Polyphonic will easily sore it past 50% in Ableton with your specs. Don't even think about using it in high or ultra quality mode. As much as I like it, there may ...
