Convert midi in osc and send osc message outside Ableton

Hi Guys and Galls, This must be super simple... I want to be able to fire a midi note from a Ableton track and use this to generate an osc message which is sent to a piece of software outside of Ableton. I've found the Ableton connection kit OSC tools and loaded the "OSC send" M4L plugin but I'm fai...

Cdj2000nxs2 to ableton. Mtc with dynamic speed

Hi there, I’m using tc-supply’s showcontrol software to link cdj’s to Ableton. Almost everything works fine but showcontrol can speed up and slow down mtc. Other software products i use to drive video can follow this but I’m getting mixed results with Ableton. Does anyone have experience with mtc th...

Playback scenes based on timecode range / offset

Hi There, I'd like to know if there is a M4L tool you guys know about that would enable me to play Ableton Scenes based on specific timecode ranges (offsets). Right now when I make Ableton listen to timecode the timecode range is directly linked to Ableton transport and this forces me to work in the...

Re: How to convert a MTC number to a song postion pointer

I'm ashamed to confess but after researching this a little more I discovered the math is actually extremely easy. An example: When the midi timecode starts at 00:01:00:00 (one minute) and Ableton runs at 128 beats per minute, the song position pointer wil be at 32.1.1. Because 128 notes diveded by 4...

Re: Getting Ableton to follow smpte

Have been experimenting with converting smpte to mtc and driving Ableton with this and results are promising.

Figure 53's lockstep smpte to mtc converter works like a charm.

Re: How to convert a MTC number to a song postion pointer

Well, I need to be able to start clips in Ableton at certain moments in (midi) time (code) I'm receiving 3 different midi time code segments. segment 1 starts from 00:00:00:00 segment 2 starts from 00:10:00:00 segment 3 starts from 00:20:00:00 When I receive the timecode section which starts at 00:1...

How to convert a MTC number to a song postion pointer

Hi There, I need to be able to calculate which Ableton song position pointer value (bars, beats and subdivisions) corresponds with a certain MTC number. Of course this depends on the bpm and the time signature of the audio and the fps of the mtc. Complicated. Does anybody know of a handy (online) ca...

Getting Ableton to follow smpte

Hi guys, I would like to know if it's possible to get Ableton to listen to smpte and play in sync. I have a motu micro express which reads smpte and can convert this to mtc. I know Ableton can listen to mtc but I have never tried this. What are your experiences with this. Does this work flawlessly? ...

Linking a (midi) sequencer to a (music) conductor

Hi There, Has anybody had some experience with linking a midi sequencer to a music conductor? I want to collaborate with a classic music ensemble but don't want to enforce something like a click track. I want the conductor to have as much freedom as he/she normally has but have my sequence stay in s...

Audio and midi clips are grouped but don't start together...

Puzzled by this one:

I have some audio and midi clips grouped but and when I start the group the audio and midi clip start together and sometimes they don't and then they have a one bar offset.

What could be the problem!?

Thank you,

Manuel

Re: Asking to impossible: Realtime audio to midi...

Ive been playing around with midi guitar and must say that its far from plug an play. Did not get good result when i was working with non guitar material. I want to work with voice and wind instruments mainly and because those are mono signals and pretty clean sinewaves I was hoping for a better res...
