Laptops synced via midi, no problem...now midi commands?

Hey all, i've read through the 40billion "how to sync two laptops" threads, and i'm all set in that regard. their clocks are syncdd no problem, spacebar on the master starts the slave, changing tempo reads on the second computer all good. check, no problem. now, my conundrum is how to start scenes v...

Re: dedicated master clocks, worth it or audibly insignificant

i know this is a different realm of audio. but in a live setting i've used a Yamaha PM5d one night on, if i remember correctly, a L-acoustics VDOSC system at a festival mainstage to a total audience of about 80,000 people and then a week later did another festival with basically the same rig except ...

Alva Noto- Unitxt (raster-noton) Raster Norton! ! not sure if you meant this as an exclamation of solidarity or as a correction to my spelling. if it's the latter, read the backs of your record(s), it's raster-noton not NORTON, although i would be very pleased to see a Signal tribute to "the honeym...

from what i can tell, folks don't really want physical media that isn't a) of superior fidelity to the stuff they can download off the internet or b) something collectible ie. vinyl, elaborate box sets, big artwork, posters, DVD included, stuff like that. the cool thing about vinyl is that even if y...

AND raster-noton's been doing SD card format for select releases for a few years now. It makes sense coming from them, but from Akon? Nah. i've been trying to figure out a way to do USB "thumb drives" as physical media with .aiff on them so the consumer can pull off the files and then have a USB dri...

there are plenty of people who are completely turned off when they see a laptop on stage and no matter what accessory you use with it they still won't like it. Staring at your laptop screen is the same as playing a guitar, standing still and staring at your pedals, oh guess what...some really amazin...

i'm just happy that CDs are bowing out (or going down swinging). You see with vinyl, even if you record digitally you can cut the vinyl master from a 24bit digital master so NO NEED FOR DITHERING (if you record at 24bit 44.1khz) plus greater audio fidelity not just "warmth". vinyl is more expensive ...

even if palin doesn't want to be in washington she's sure acting like she does. plus her presence is bringing up all the conservative issues that Mccain has been avoiding for most of his campaign. we live in a country that "elected" bush twice. after all that mess i guess a "divided" republican part...

yeah, the digidesign venue still sounds like a digital desk but allows you to use TDM and RTAS plug ins on each channel which is kind of fun. I was using echo farm, the sansamp plug in for some grit on DI's and a few others. Their engineer is great (if he's not out with radiohead at the moment). the...

disagree. are you paying any attention? the GOP does not like her. it sounds cute for her to run against Hillary but that's never gonna happen. Palin really strikes me as someone who was happy being in Alaska, grass roots politician, more into the people than Washington. being in a small town churc...

here's a hint--

they'll play "head like a hole" last and the guitar player who runs around alot will jump into the crowd.

on a more interesting note-

the stage is just being set for a Palin vs. Hillary Clinton election a few years down the line. she's given hope to conservatives the way obama has to anyone who isn't conservative. now mccain can run against "the liberal media" rather than obama, taking a new angle and lumping obama in with it is t...
